Exclamation Where to install Winegard Trav'ler on 378fb

I have a 2016 Sandpiper 378FB and am looking at installing a Winegard Trav'ler Sat Dish on our fifth wheel. As anyone or does anyone know where it should be installed. Is there a schematic of the roof that can be downloaded?

I believe the unit comes with instructions that provide you with generic information on where to place your unit and a template for mounting. I know mine did.

Since we've only had our 5'er since April, I'm going to wait until next year to decide whether or not to mount the antennae on the roof. I really have no problem sitting it up on a tripod or table.

Mounting on the roof could give me problems with trees blocking the signal.

Some of these units come Sat prewired with the antenna coax routed to a specific point on the roof. Yours may not be but wouldn't hurt to check.

Like has been said, is yours pre-wired for the Trav'ler?

Our Cedar Creek was so the Trav'ler needed to be within I think 3 feet of the mark on the roof.

The Trav'ler is really a regular dish and then a real cool pointing device. So you have a $200 dish hooked up to a $1000+ pointing devise.

When we bought a 5th wheel one thing I wanted was autolevel and the Trav'ler is kinda like that. It's a want not a need.

When we get to a RV Park I drop the front landing gear then move the truck, hit the autolevel and watch it do its thing. Then I go inside and turn the Trav'ler on and go outside and watch it do its thing,

You can save some money and spend 20 or so minutes setting up a dish when you park.

Lots of different ways to skin this cat.

FWIW, I called Winegard and asked if I could use it as a 'portable' on a base, sit on picnic table, something.........and they adamantly said no. Said it would not only not work, but would void the warranty totally, and is stated as being not allowed.

Beats me why!!! But that's what they said.

Someone, someday, is going to make a DirecTV HD Automatic Dish System!!!! And get filthy rich.

They don't make the Carry out for Direct TV anymore? I have a Gen1 Carry out and Direct. Works great!! I was going to mount one on my roof and was talked out of it. Dealer said that I would run into problems with trees being in the way in some instances. Made sense so I went with the Carry out.
