Which metal detector is good for a newbie?

My husbands parents always buy us something new for our TT every christmas. This year I thought it might be fun to have a metal detector to play around with.

It has to be reasonable in price, we don't need the real high tech ones. Just something to keep in the camper and take to the beach or when were hiking.

For those of you who have them, please reply with your choices.

Thanks,

Rebecca

I'd look a mid range model. Too cheap and you won't use it much. White is suppose to be a good brand. If you find one with a waterproof head it my get more use too.
I also hear it can become addicting...........

I think it sounds like something new and fun to do! Thanks for the info. I have my father in law on a hunt for one for us. I will pass on the info regarding "White" as a good brand.

Thanks,
Rebecca

I have a Bounty Hunter - Sharp Shooter II. I don't think it was over the top expensive and works pretty good. First time out we found a dime! Figure its well on the way of paying for itself! <grin>
