My thoughts are there isn't enough interest out there in a mnfg option for them to offer it at this time, howwwever, just like the guy driving a standard 200 hp auto that would like 600hp there is a lot of owner enhancements out there to be able to make it happen. Same with power upgrade. It's expensive, for the owner to do, but probably no where near what the factory would charge for the same thing. Until the demand reaches the numbers needed to make it an affordable factory option it ain't gonna happen. As far as the cg's not offering 50a svc. If everyone has 50a, they will have it or go out of business. A little off subject but it seems I remember tent camping with 0 amp thinking those folks in their rv's really weren't camping bringing their house with them. Now though my opinion is I think I should have whatever I want that I can afford, and if it takes 50a to run it so be it, but until the market catches up we will rely on after market, and ingenuity.
Thanks for the soap box. [emoji6]

One can enjoy the outdoors AND enjoy the amenities that a modern camper provides.

Amen. My question exactly. When my warranty is up I will be re-wiring my rig for 50 amp 120 volts.
The cost difference between the two during manufacturing could not be more than $100. Probably more like $50.

We had the option at the time of ordering our Flagstaff to choose 30 or 50 amp so it is available on some models.

That's good to know. As a first time RV owner we didn't have a clue about the downside of 30 amp service. The sales people don't tell you things like that. They do sell a lot of dog bones.

I wouldn't say 30 amp is a downside...
Depends on the camper. No reason for a pop up to be 50 amp, but take a twin ac 40 footer to a 30A site and you'll have trouble keeping it cool.

A 50 amp power cord upgrade will cost more than that. Now, don't get me wrong, but the 50/30 difference in manufacturing is at least $150.00 or $200.00. Not a big deal when it comes to the total price, but then manufacturers have to be careful when adding things that do not increase the marketability to the consumer. A little money here and a little money there and pretty soon you are adding $5,000 to the price.

30 amp service
The only time I ever had a problem was when DIL was using a hair dryer that fried the GFI. Replaced the GFI and still had no power. Found out that it also tripped a single side of the 50 amp breaker on the pedestals. Every thing was back to normal when it was reset. I have a Camo adapter that when used on the end of a 50 amp cable, runs 30 amp down both sides. Just have to be aware of what power you are pulling (and banning hair dryers).

You will be surprised. The 50 amp shore power cord is close to $300 by itself. The bulkhead connector, another $70. You will spend at least $500 and that's if you leave the internal breaker panel alone and just add a few extra plugs.
Kinda like when people give you a FREE hot tub. Sounds great until what you find out what it costs to connect it to your breaker panel. Especially if it's not close by.
Go for it though. I did and love the upgrade. Just remember your going to a 4 wire system. Neutral and grounds are separate.

Site Team Note:
We are closing this thread for review and clean-up. We have too much sniping, too much "not quite correct information", too much off-topic comments.
