Why is the dinette usually on the side facing your neighbors?

Answer is because manufactures won't listen to us. We had a Georgetown 378 just for that very reason. I think Winnebago has some options in there diesels.

Having at least the dinette on the camp side was a deal breaker in selecting our trailer....In fact the less windows on the neighbor's side was a preference of ours...I think one of the reasons being is we generally camp in what I refer to as Southern CA parking lot type campgrounds were your neighbor is very close to you and there isn't much privacy and you don't get the feeling you are in a fish bowl. We chose a Rockwood 2703 ...It only has a small kitchen window and one other window in the rear over the sofa...As you can see in the pic the site doesn't allow for much room including your TV.

I like windows, the more the better. I like to see out. I have a Cedar Creek 32RL now but I had a Wildcat Sterling 32RL and it had a lot of windows. I had garden windows on the dinette side, it was awesome. Camper had a lot of problems.

We love windows too - our Crusader has 6 floor to ceiling windows in the door side slideout - it has the dining table and two swivel recliners in the slide

We only have one window over the sofa on the opposite side slide that has the sofa, stove and fridge in a huge slideout - that is only window on that side of the camper

Our Roo 23SS (first picture below) had the dinette on the camp side and a kitchen layout similar to ApexBunk's. Our current Rockwood 8293SS (second picture below with the U-shaped dinette option) has the dinette in the slideout on the opposite side. We prefer the dinette on the camp side but it's not a deal breaker for us. If you camp in a wooded campground with privacy between sites it's not an issue, but it could be in the parking lot campgrounds if you're squeezed together tight.

I've had them both ways, and the camper I have now has the dinette on the cg side. It really does not matter in my case no kids to watch and Hardly see folks out on there camp site when i'm eating but then I can always use the picnic table for meals. Later RJD

Yes we have the same layout in the Flagstaff 27rlws an this is just one of the things we like about this floorplan. As for tose with concerns of the awning. Our awning covers the area from the front of the trailer up to the Dining slide. Makes a nice sheltered area with basically a wall at the back edge of the awning.
