Hey Moderater, what is the record for posts to a thread on this forum? I know we may have gotten off the subject but acting like kids is fun with all this electronic technology!

There is a FROG thread that has 288. That's the thread with the most posts I could find. I don't have moderator power though.

Yes, but this thread was started on Sept 14, which is not even 2 months ago, and it got that many posts.
How long did it take the other thread to get 288?
I bet not less than 60 days.......
Does the OP get a trophy?

OK, if I must, here's the stats:
The FROG thread started 26 Feb 11 and was last posted to 30 Oct. It averaged 1.03 posts a day.
This thread started 15 Sep 11 and has averged 3.8 posts a day, not counting this one

The secret to discharging grey water(not saying it's right or wrong thats an individusl choice) is connecting a hose and letting it constantly drip, the smell comes from letting it sit in tank and then draining, if it drips all the time you will never have a smell.

The record is this thread with 837 posts. But remember - it's not the quantity of posts that matters - but the usefulness of the info, etc. Posts need to be on topic (mostly) and well, you get the idea

I recently added a light hearted joke on this thread but it got rejected by the moderator. My attempt at humour was not taken lightly. I guess it was a little offensive. For those that read it before it got pulled, I apologize to anyone I offended. For that infraction, I will do penance.
The bottom line is c*** happens but above all, do not micturate or defecate in the woods.

Labzy (and everyone else who wants to know how), for each quote you'd like to include, you have to click the multi quote icon (the one with the red arrow), then you need to click the post reply button.
After you click the post reply button, you'll be taken to the reply editor where you can see the quotes lined up for you to comment on.

Anyone care to tell me how a septic system at home or a campground works? If i remember correctly doesn't it seep into the ground?

Much earlier in my career, while working as a building and utilities inspector, I did a lot of work with sewer and water districts. It was a commonly known fact that communities that installed municipal sewer systems, unless they were "high ground water" communities, had to look at deepening wells, or installing municipal water about a decade later.
The ground is a giant filter, and you cannot remove water from the overall system without replenishing it. That said, the bacteria that lives in septic tanks does much of the cleaning of the effluent that enters the tank. If you look at (or smell) the water being forced OUT of a septic tank into the distribution laterals, you'll find that, in a properly installed and maintained system, that this water is clear and virtually oderless.
I certainly wouldn't drink it, but that's what filters through the ground and back into the ground water drinking sources.....
No such bacteria action occurs in our holding tanks, so dumping grey or black on the ground is not the same.

So, next time you or your neighbor pump their septic tank, have the septic guy save a 5 gallon bucket of "the good stuff" for us to dump in our RVs?

The world would be a much different place if we did not control how and where we processed human waste. Anyone every visit Trenchtown in Jamaica? Guess what the trenches running down the center of the roads are for. Thankfully, we have some rules in this country and a government that processes most of the human waste for us to prevent a mess like that.
There seems to be an arrogance running thru this thread that somehow some of you do not have a responsibilty to the good people around you. That you do not have a duty to do what is right.
Most septic systems are NOT functioning correctly, most people do not maintain and clean them regularly. Would you allow your kids to play in that little steam downstream from a septic system? There you know where waste is, with illegal dumping of gray water around a campsite it is less obvious. Think of the people that follow and do the right thing, EVEN WHEN NOBODY IS WATCHING.

Out door shower
What is the difference with the folks who have out door showers, pulled into Edisto Beach State Park, everyone had out door showers set up with soap and shampoo.
My boat dumps gray water into the Chesapeake bay.

How about CG's that allow washing of RV's and vehicles at the sites? I'm sure lots of great stuff comes off them.
