You name the type of RV and millions have been built recently. Not many new sites have been added so rules and rates are easily set by the owners.

That's why I love my ROO. It is paid for, and it fits almost any place. I've met some very nice people camping, but I still prefer to camp by ourselves in the middle of nowhere.

The deer, mountain goats, beers, mountain lions, squirrels, and birds don't care how old my camper is when I boondock!

As a campground owner, you can't really advertise, "No crappy campers, please." Because "crappy" is in the eye of the beholder.

So it's a lot easier to just say, "No trailers older than 20XX." Then if someone really wants to come, he can send a pic and probably get in.

I'm sure the campground owner doesn't want his campground to turn into a "trailer park" (read "trailer trash").

RV Parks are in business to make money. If the ownerís business model is motorhomes only, or nothing over 10 years old, or no children, or age 55 and older only, thatís their prerogative. When you own a business you do what you think will make a profit. Without a decent profit, the business closes. In many cases catering to a niche market is highly successful.

older rvs

Stayed in Biloxi last month at Majestic Oaks, a very nice RV park. and their rules are anything older than 2000 to be inspected by management before allowed to camp there.

A few years ago my husband and I were "hotel camping" in Southern Utah. We met an elderly man and his dog driving this obviously homemade camper on his beat up truck. He was so nice and invited us to see the inside. I was I admit, apprehensive. It was beautiful. He had been a high school shop teacher and was obviously quite a craftsman. It was so lovely and he did it all himself. He said he was alone and old and really loved traveling like this and didn't want to get robbed or bothered. You just never know.

We have run into several places with age restrictions. STUPID!
What if you have a well kept unit, or a vintage Airstream or Shasta?

We were in Ft Lauderdale and one place would not even talk to us because we did not have a Class A motor home. We have a 2014 bumper pull TT. Its not like we were going to be there for months. Just a few days.

Agreed, these are places we rather not stay. Nt everyone can afford a BRAND NEW unit every year.
