Why two sizes for cargo doors?

Our Salem TT has a nice, big cargo door on the right side. Why not make the door on the left side the same size? Hate that tiny frustrating to use door. Click image for larger version

If they did that you would lose interior space. There is a give and take with space. It is like the outside kitchen, yes they are nice but you give up interior space with it.

How would making a door bigger reduce interior space? Same space inside. Just make the door bigger.

One door looks taller while the other door looks wider. I wouldn't mind that but then I have same size doors that are really small. So small that my sewer hose support does not fit through the door at all in any direction.

Our Wildwood has the same design, I actually don't mind it though because our dog kennel (once we collapse it) and cooking grate setup fit perfectly stacked right inside that little door. I also wondered that though, but as I said it wasn't an issue for us.

Outside compartment size is determined by the inside lay out. You probably have more cabinets on that side of the bed, there for a smaller outside compartment.

Both sides of the bed are identical. Same space, closets. It really makes no sense.

My 2014 Wildwood is the same. NOTHING different on the smaller door side. No reason. Its irritating. BTW..I have answered many questions here, but guess I'm dumb. How do you initiate a question here? Can't figure it out!

I can confirm that it is the same amount of space through the whole compartment (from the big door you can easily see the whole space).

The only logical thing I can think of is to try to limit people to how much they load in the front of the camper.

Would it be at all possible that same outside wall but different floor plan inside and saving costs? That could explain two different sizes.

I have the same door arrangement on mine. Nothing different about the floor plan, just different sized doors. Personally, though, I like the wider door. It's not as tall, but folding chairs fit in nicely.

It isn't uncommon for the factory to use whatever is available to get the units off the line.
They likely ran out of BIG doors and had to use one small one to get it completed. Same goes for faucets, hardware and a slew of other things.

The door openings on metal clad units are cut in after assembly.
They cut the hole for whatever size door they had available that day.

You'll see in every piece of literature something to the effect...

Both doors are 31" at the frame.
