Wife just added Montana to the todo list

Ok we live in southern wv. The wife really wants to do this. In the mines 4th of July week I get about 9 days off. Was just wandering if anyone knows any good campgrounds there and any tips things to see and things like that would be helpful. Thanks in advance

All of it!

Montana is on my list of places to go spend time when I get the chance. I was out there a couple of years ago for a meeting and saw just bits and pieces and want to go back and see more.

Can't help on the campgrounds...we were "roughing it" at a Hilton. in Billings.

Ditto on Glacier NP, as well as Mount Rushmore on the way out. If you have time, swing south on the way home and take in the Tetons.

Probably do not have the time to get to the Canadian Rockies, but you should try to see them some day. Spectacular!

Have a good trip,
Don

You can visit the Little Bighorn Battlefield in Crow Agency MT which is outside of Hardin MT. We stayed at a KOA not to far from the battlefield site in Hardin MT. We stayed there for two nights and then moved on to Yellowstone in MT and WY.

Red Lodge. A nice KOA west of town, never camped there, but looks nice and there used to be someone on this site who was a camp host there.
Also plenty of FS campgrounds if you don't mind dry camping.
It is also the start of the Beartooth Parkway that leads into the Northeaster entrance to Yellowstone NP, or you can cut off to the Chief Joseph Parkway that heads to Cody and circle back to Red Lodge. Makes a great one day trip.

And some fantastic scenery....

If going over the 4th, the NPs will be extremely busy, as will most of the area. So get your route planned and make some reservations.

In Glacier don't forget Going To the Sun Highway, prettiest place I have ever been. It's a little crowded but beautiful and crowded at the topClick image for larger version
