Careful. There's some toes that might get steeped on.
A) wifi will be way too slow to stream.
B) that would be kind of rude, to hog all the bandwidth even if it did work.

I just had a wifi booster tube and repeater delivered from TechnoRV. Will let you know how it works after next week.

Last weekend I was streaming Amazon Prime, Netflix on my FireTV on the CG wifi. Technically it can be done but relies on CG bandwidth which we all know is ok at best.

Some CG will kill the wifi when they see someone eating up a lot of bw. If you have Amazon Prime you can download movies and keep them for 48 hours I believe. We do that for trips when rain is in the forecast.

During prime season I'm sure using CG wifi would be useless. There is xfinity wifi available where I normally go. Once I can figure out how to get connected via my wifi booster I will set.

I use one if I can't get a reliable connect. These don't steal bandwidth from others or allows you to hog bandwidth but enables you to hold a connection. If I have good connect that doesn't drop I don't use it nor do I use it to stream video. This one sets up a laptop like it is a hot spot then you connect your devices though the laptop.

I just got back from Florida, the CG we stayed at put out a warning they will disconnect you the first time they catch you, and ask you to leave if you do it again. I don't know how they can tell it's somebody but that is now in there packet.

The CG owner should invest in proper throttling technology to avoid this. If they choose to use a 9.99 router so be it. Real technology does not cost that much money to obtain and have a local tech mange when needed. Would server all better and eliminate hassles for CG staff. If they allow it to happen the end user is not the problem. I say use it if it is there.

You are right there. Every router I have used since 1996 during my ISP days had some sort of technology to limit uses of band width. If nothing more than block a class c, single IP or domain name. Last year a CG owner was complaining about streaming video and band width hogs. I fixed about 80% of his problem in about 10 minutes after he let me on his router. I blocked all the major streaming sites like Netflix, YouTube, and streaming TV sites. This guy was using a consumer grade router and still had the default password on it that was setup by a friend of his for free. I guess he got what he paid for.....

What if I want to come to my favourite FR forum, and argue with strangers.
But can't, because you are streaming old episodes of Barney?

If I can't keep a reliable connection and use a WIFI antenna to keep my connects is no different then you that can keep a connection. Now using a WIFI antenna for streaming Barney is not different then some streaming Barney that closer to the hot spot and has good connection without a WIFI antenna.

That's the way the Louisiana State Parks are setup. They have filters that block the streaming video sites, like you listed.
I've been to Arkansas State Parks that were more accommodating, if you wanted to pay the price. They have a free wi-fi that also blocked the streaming sites, but then had a third party wi-fi system that you pay like $10 dollars a day and be able to stream anything you wanted. Actually I didn't mind that and kind of liked it.
As far as the wifi booster, I have and use one at a few of my LA Parks who have a very weak wifi signal. It doesn't allow me to get past their filters, but does let me pick up and hold a signal where otherwise it wouldn't.
So to the OP, it's going to depend on whose/what wi-fi signal you are boosting, to see if it enables you to connect to a streaming service.

I don't stream old episodes of Barney but I do have a job where I need to log into work networks from time to time. I need to have a reliable connection or at least as good as I can get.
Thank you for playing.

The post was more about the actual streaming, and had nothing to do with the means of the connection.

Ependydad works out of his 5er and he uses mobile hotspots, he might have better advice for working. I have yet to really find a campground where WiFi is great and I just use it to maybe check an email. If you need it for work my guess is you need it to be consistent and work. Might not get that with the crappie CG WiFi.

You are correct. I don't stream but most unfrustrating internet experiences require a reliable connection. That's what I was addressing.
