wind

we been travelling in very windy conditions. What in the best position to place rv when its quite windy. we have a winnebago view and we worry about the rollout cover over slideout buffeting in wind. how much wind can they withstand? its only 3 ft out but really catches the wind sometimes???? since we have a murphy bed we must use the slidout so the bed can come down. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

When you consider the forces on any unit as it travels down the highway, the best direction to place your unit in windy conditions, is head on.....as long as service connections and space allow.

If you see Toto fly by.....it doesn’t matter what direction.

We were in wind one night that was so hard it was blowing the slide topper and shaking the slide. I brought the slide in till the wind died down. The wind was blowing from that side.

If you are parked and it is super windy, would it help to put down your stabilizers?

I’ve found that having the slide on the leeward side helps a lot.

Is your awning tight? If it is the wind can still make it bellow, you can either make a pvc rack or the easiest is to just blow a beach ball up stick it underneath to stop that, they all will do that. I can't say how much wind they can take but I would venture to say your screws would pull out of the brackets first. I have been in 50 kt. Gusts and no damage , noisy yes but it was still there. It hard if your bed as you say to bring it in which is the safest. But what fun would that be.
