OK, my guess.
You are hooked up to 30 amp (or 20 amp) service with a 50 amp camper.
The leg with the fridge on it is not getting power because that leg is not getting power the one that is plugged in (50 amp service has two legs).
Did you make your own pigtail adapter? The correct leg must be the one to get power when you adapt to 30 or 20 amp.

Since it is not getting AC; the fridge is trying to cool on propane but you turned it off. Thus the check light goes on when it tries to start but can't.

How am I doing?

There could also be a GFCI that the fridge is plugged into that has popped. Open the outside cover and see it it needs to be reset.

Those fridges also require 12v supply for the control baord. There have been several instances where the connnections on the control board have slightly corroded and caused the problems you're experiencing. Just unplugging/replugging them a few times solves it for a while. If that does fix it then a good cleaning is in order along with some dielectric grease.

He did say that the fridge tries to fire before the check light comes on.
That typically means 12volts is available but propane is not. The wires to the propane valve could be bad though. That is a thought...

Lou, original post says they've been there a month
ON 50 amp service and the refer is set on AC not gas.

Could still be low battery or missing 120v ac to the refer.
These are easy to check with a meter.

As you said, I suggest opening the outside cover
on the refer and checking the 120v ac outlet for
power and also check the 12v supply that it's 12v dc or more.

Now see. I read that differently initially; but now that you say it again I get it.

I still say no AC at the fridge is the problem. The WHY is the answer.

I still lean toward GFCI trip.
