winter living

Hey guys, we have sold our house and will be living in our TT this winter, as our new house will not be finished. live in Tennessee so it rarely gets in the single digits, thinking about installing 1/2" plywood and stapling R19 or better to it to enclose the under belly of the TT, and putting a small elc. heater under to keep our shore water, black and grey from freezing. we have an enclosed under belly with the sub zero package, has vents to keep things warm but propane is expensive and we all know how much propane our furnaces use. really don't want to rely on it as the primary heat source. Any info you can pass on would be appreciated.
by the way we won't be living in our 21fbrs( to small ) we have purchased a 30 foot 5th wheel to live in it is a SOB grand design

Have a brother in Montana and that is just about what they do to trailer homes up there. They've lived in theirs since 1976 and only had water line freeze once or twice....forgot to turn on the heat cord wrapped around it. That will definitely buy you some protection. Others may chime in that have a lot of experience in winter living in an RV. Stand by and the ideas will be pouring in.

How about bales of hay lined on the outside of the plywood with the heater underneath? That way, when the construction is done and you're trying to grow a lawn you can spread the hay over the seeds. The hay could also be used to help dry muddy areas in the spring. One drawback I can think of, the hay might draw rodents in from the cold.

Skirt and insulate and get a heated water hose.
