Winter storage TV in or out
Just wondering how everyone stores their camper TV's do you leave them in the camper or take them out and store them inside where it's warm.

This comes up every year. There really is no need to remove your televisions - the 'liquid' in an LCD screen won't freeze.
I left my TV in the RV last year and the temperature got to -30C with no ill effects.
I've also run LCD screens in my observatory for years and the only effect (other than them being extremely sluggish at that temperature) is that on one, the outer plastic shell cracked in one corner because the plastic tried to shrink more than the underlying metal frame.
But if it makes you feel better, go ahead.

Thanks for the reply, I have in years past taken it out but it's a real pain in the ass to get it back on the bracket correctly so when you travel it doesn't come off when you hit a bump in the road.

Yes, mine is bolted to a mount that rises from a counter and you have to contort yourself and undo 4 bolts, lift and slide sideways to get it off. The chances of dropping it are not insignificant so I choose to leave it in.

I leave it in. If there would be any need to turn it on, just make sure its at a normal temperature first.
The way i look at it, they get shipped in trucks across the country in freezing temps.

There is a greater chance of doing damage removing it then to just leave it alone. Unless of coures you're looking for a good reason to upgrade to a newer 4K Super Ultra High Definition 3-D television, in which case have fun and happy shopping for a good replacement.

I pull ours out. TV repair company locally was asked this and responded that with todays TV's the boards tend not to work after long periods of time being off.
that being said we had a brand new 55 inch TV in the original box... for 3 yrs until i could get the man cave built in the house...
took it out, plugged it in and watched Black Hawk Down and Heat... and the third movie it blew up the main board.
450$ to replace and had watched about 4 hours on it.
Theater costs and popcorn at 50$ a bag with butter would have been cheaper.
I remove mine and use them over the winter time

I guess it depends on how cold it gets. We have left ours in the last 2 winters (North Alabama) and have had no problems. The coldest it's gotten was 9 degrees. However, if you have the same problem we had last month, someone broke into our trailer, destroyed both doors and stole the TV, low temperature or not being used didn't matter. At least the thief was nice enough to just take the TV off the bracket and unplug the wires, not rip it out of the cabinet and cut the wires.

I leave ours in. It really doesn't get that cold in Georgia and an agile monkey would have a hard getting to it with slides in.

Ours come out for the winter . It only takes a few minutes and I would rather be safe than sorry .

Well I'd say you left yours in a box for 3 years so guess it would fail according to your tech. Now we are talking camper and at most 4 months not using. I have left them in every camper I've owned and never had a failure. Later RJD

They don't ship them across the country in winter in heated trucks. The cold will not hurt them.
