Winterizing Help!

I just bought a 2014 Surveyor and last weekend was the last weekend out. I went to winterize but surprise, the manual is less than helpful. I drained the fresh water tank, water heater, and turned off all three valves near the water heater. The manual said to then pour the Antifreeze in the tank using a funnel. I can only assume this means the FWT. I put a gallon or so in and turned on the water pump opend the cold faucet and it just spits and sputters. Nothing is coming up. What am i missing...is this not supposed to go to the fresh water tank?

First off...does your unit have a winterizing bypass with a length of hose attached to it...should be right at your pump...or you may have an exterior antifreeze inlet by your city water hook up. If so, you don't need to add antifreeze to your fresh water tank and can siphon directly out of the antifreeze jug. But seeing as you already added to your tank, you could just carry on with that. The problem you are having is that a gallon of antifreeze in that large freshwater tank is not enough and you are sucking up air. By sucking directly out of the jug rather than your freshwater tank you will need quite a bit less antifreeze.
Did you open up your low point drains? There are a lot of great youtube videos showing you how to winterize.

Hello and welcome. You do not want to add the antifreeze to your fresh water tank. It is very hard to get the taste back out. I would go ahead and drai. That back out and then start flushing that tank back out now. As asked above do you have a bypass kit? That is the easiest way to get the rv antifreeze through your system. It should only take 2 gallons of the pink stuff to do it right. Alternatively you could drain your system and blow the lines out using compressed air. IiRC you want to keep the air pressure between 30-45 psi but those that do the blow out method can answer that question much much better than I can.
