Winterizing tested to the max!

Well folks, this has been one of the snowiest and coldest winters on record. Any trailers that maybe didn't get a complete antifreeze treatment .... cross your fingers. It was the first time for me to winterize a full size TT. so my fingers have been crossed since our first deep freeze cold snap in January. Hope all the plumbing, mechanical and electrical components survived!

Can't wait for the temperature to get above freezing and open the unit up for testing!

Ya I'm hoping I managed to get everything winterized thoroughly as well. Calling for -39c with a -52c windchill on Saturday morning!!!

I will never complain about the cold (ok i will) but after spending a week in Calgary a few years ago in January at a jobsite what we get in Missouri is nothing. Did you know at -25 your spit will freeze before it hits the ground? I lost a few Loons on that bet from the plant staff. The blizard we had actually made the news in St. Louis. I love it there though and hope to take my family one day....Lake Louise is one heck of a spot.

I've never winterized before in northwest LA. Just pulled the low point drains. But this year I drained water heater, tanks, waterlines and blew out all water lines with air. Now I'm trusting my tank heaters at night and running furnace at 55° if forecast is below freezing. Hope I've done enough.

I know I am excited and so are our horses.

Of course we have been down to -36 already this winter so if it has not broke yet it's not going to.

Actually I've been more concerned about the melting and then the deep freezes we've been having. Hope moisture hasn't gotten into and seals/seams on the TT and popped anything.

The deck on the house keeps making popping and cracking noises after a melt and freeze, so hope the TT is okay.

Got introduced to winterizing. Living in central Texas and being new to RVing, was ill-prepared. First trip up to check on non-winterized RV (stays in Bandera) found a busted water filter. Fixed. Learned a bit about winterizing. Drained low point drain and water heater,opened indoor faucets. Went home. Another freeze. Returned to RV. Hooked water up again and discovered the shower head and toilet flow valve had busted. Fixed, and was told those 2 points should have been opened. Returned in 3 weeks after another freeze, hooked up water. Low point water drain had cracked. (After I had drained it, I put cap back on --- guess more water dripped down.) Fixed.
Everything okay now. I think I'll just take RV back home with me...

Around here we look forward to winter as much as we look forward to spring.
We drain EVERYthing. Pump in the pink drink until it's flowing out the faucets. Pour some more down the drains, toilet, shower and then sacrifice a chicken or two for good measure. Cover her up and GO Skiing!

I hope the chicken was tasty!! I use Windshield Washer for the grey and black water tank valves, cheaper than pink stuff. Our seasonal trailer takes 22 litres of pink for the pipes alone. The Rockwood 8289 takes 3 litres.
