Always on but leave it at 75. If we were to turn it off it'd be close to 100 when we got back. I want to walk in and say ahhh not WTF it's hot in here. It would take to long to cool down. Plus, I don't handle the heat like I used to.

If you are using a portable generator, is there a certain setting you should use for your air?

This is a whole different topic.

Just as I would never even think of leaving a campfire burning when I am not there to monitor it; I would not leave my generator running with no one there to monitor it.

I am sure you will get other opinions.

I wouldn't leave my generator running while gone. Will be camping with no power for a week. And if the weather gets hot I was wondering if there is a certain setting the air needs to be on.

We have our trailer stationary and leave the air conditioner on during the week but its set at 85 while we are away. Reason being we don't need it getting 100 in the trailer and wreaking havoc on our electronics and I think its overall good for the interior. I know trailers on the lot of dealers aren't all plugged in so I guess its up to owner. Maybe a waste but I haven't had any issues leaving it on while we are away...

Yes. leave it on all day because Texas heat is a bear. I have a toyhauler, which means I spend most the days out riding and when I get back I don't want to wait on the AC to cool things down, but my main reason for leaving it running are for my furry kids.

The fire I understand but why not the generator? Do you unplug your trailer when you go out?

I installed the generator so I could run the AC when I go out and have to leave my girl behind, a 70 pound chocolate lab. Won't really need it for anything else.

Leave it on - but when everybody has their AC on in the afternoon the CG voltage can drop down to unsafe levels as we experienced last year. Our surge guard shut the power off, the neighbors didn't have one and both their AC's fried.

I guess in Wild Rose Country you need to hog tie the Coleman to prevent it from running around the Camp...

Best thing we have ever found to control humidity!
This really is not a bad idea, Remember that all an a/c is a big dehumidifier. If you can keep the humidity down you can set your a/c temp a lot higher and still feel cool inside. Your system would cycle alot more by removing the humidity. Smart move Bob, hence less power used for the CG and the green people....

I leave my AC on just as I would when at home. If you leave it off while gone the RV gets hot and it takes a longer time to cool back down.

As you will see, the temp inside will rise dramatically, spoiling many item that are in the cupboards like bread... Butter. I'd keep my ac on but not at the comfort level. Just enough to keep the inside from turning into an oven.
