Would you work for FR?
Sign all waivers and go thru training. Drug test if required.
If they can build a camper in three days I would give my labor for at least one week to work on my RV.
Check welds. Meaning I would reweld and support the framework as soon on forum. Pinbox flexing and spring hangers.
Upgraded axles and tires and possibly brakes. Easy at assembly.
Heater and A/C upgrades.
Could clean up your camper from sawdust and organize wire. Install EMS. Mount TVs the way you want. Drawers or shelves where you need them. Catch stripped screws and things. Not to mention all the more understanding you would have. Understand their assembly goes on but you could have access to it before and after work hours or breaks.
Not to mention all the upgrades that are coming or available you never even know existed.

I'm a contractor by trade and always tell my customers the same thing about something like this. We charge more if the customer helps....
That said, I'd love to do as you outline. Never going to happen, but I'd love the opportunity... even if I had to pay...

Would you work for FR?
Nope! Folks on this forum would hunt you down.
Do these Amish/working folks know how bad they are spoken of? Have they seen the Weird Al video?
These and more absurd questions will never be answered.

It isn't the line workers making an inferior product. It is designers, engineers, and Quality Control. Line workers don't make decisions, only follow instructions. I worked in a assembly line environment as a process developer and was able to institute change. The workers weren't trained to to do that. My FR Flagstaff has way too many "small" defects, but so do other brands. I'll will look closer next time.

When screws aren't seated properly, trim is attached haphazardly, etc., that has nothing to do with the designers or engineers. It's shoddy work by the line workers, and lousy Quality Control.
That being said, there's lots of blame to go around for everyone for lots of issues.

I'd like to be a quality control person, but only if I had the power to make a person re-due their screw-up..

there are probably too many metrics that the factory is measured on that come before quality. Since we all buy the junk anyway they have no reason to make quality a priority.

Corvette has a couple of programs like that. One program is helping to assembly your Z engine and the other one you can follow your Corvette down the assembly line while it's being built. Since I didn't do either I don't know how much input you have into the process but I would guess none. I did the private factory tour and pickup at the museum.

When you see the rate at which they turn out their product, you'd have to be crazy to try and keep up with those kids. There's a great lack of quality control, and that's probably due to management being focused on the bottom line. Slow down the production line and do it right the first time.

Are the production workers charged with the same operation (s) from unit to unit?

The line workers are paid by the piece, not by the hour... so... they get paid the same amount whether the screw is seated up pr not... or whether the trim piece fits or not... The more pieces they do, the more they make. This is quality control problem number one. QC problem number two is there is NO QC...
I'd work for them if they moved to Weatherford, Texas... otherwise, not so much. Also, I have only 318 days to retirement.

The only one that I know of that pays their line workers by the hour instead of by the piece is Winnebago and they are very proud of that fact.
