I just bought a MW, GE Spacemaker, w/o a button latch. YMMV

Yes it is winter, my wife says, "do those people argue about everything?"

I told her from what I read on here there are very few people with the same opinion!

Bingo! We thought our microwave was broken because it sometimes wouldn't start. The door doesn't always shut fully to engage the lock. Now it's another one of the things on the check list before we hit the road.

Awesome, thanks for the pics. Yes, that micro looks like my old one, came flying open all the time. My new one does not do that. (pictured)

Our use of the noodle wasn't from fear of the door coming open, because that had/has never happened, ... our plate would regularly bounce off the center turning hub and the support rolling ring, ... and it is just high enough, that placing it back on and aligned correctly was an aggravation that got old, ... the pool noodle works great, it's simple and easy to use, ... plus that's one less aggravation to deal with, ... and one less thing to have to do when setting up on a camp site

After some "thoughtful" discussion we realized he had just de-winterized the rig and DH was the last one to do anything in the sink and the turntable was not in it. Proving that during transit the microwave door had popped open, the turntable bounced out on the wooden cutting board insert we have in the right side sink then slid down into the left side sink unscathed and of course the micro wave door closed again. OK, I guess I need the pool noodle fix.
I always store the turntable and sink covers.

Bungy

I bungy everything. Cabnets, microwave, refrigerator. Tractor supply to get those bungy. Also in that bunch there are those circular bungy that work good on cabinets.
