2014 3125RT opposing slide (rear road side) had 75% of seal torn loose because of 7 vertical attach screws pulled out.
No way to reinstall and secure without slide removal to realign seal and reattach by service department.
The upper exterior edge of sealant applied did not adhere to fiberglass and did allow water to sit on seal channel. Yes, minimal damage because I caught this soon enough. I applied more silicon to all three upper slide seals shortly after. The problem is the screws securing seals are installed from the bottom which make them non-accessible without slide removal This was a used 5r and had been well maintained.
The seals roll during retracting and pull sealant away from fiberglass.
IMO The better installation process would be in lengthen the exterior lip of seal and add an aluminium channel over the seal to screw into the exterior wall and then add silicon over the extrusion.
Now I check the upper slide seals more frequently for sealant tearing. Cost was $700 for one slide seal replacement, removal, reinstall slide.
