2016 Solaire 147x

Hello All,

Bought a 2016 147x yesterday. We don't pick it up until May 7th as our trade is still in storage until the end of April.

My Cousin has a 2014 147x and has only had two minor issue with it and loves it. Asked if he would buy it again and he said for sure.

My brother has a 2014 Viking 17BH since he doesn't want tent ends any more (the previous owner of my RL 1001 but that wasn't for us with a family of 4 .

We loved the 147x and have owned the 2008 palomino RL for 3 years and have had great use of it with the normal maintenance.

We looked at Starcraft 16XBD, Coachman 16RBD, KC 18, Jayco X17A and X17A and the Solaire and decided on the Solaire.

The local dealer (1 hour away) is not going to continue the Solaire any further and will be carrying the Rockwood Roo this year instead. Which is a little concerning to me but they say its to compete with the Jayco dealer who is 5 mins down the road.

Surly the negative post get put on here more often than positive and there are lemons with a lot of things but there must be a lot of satisfied 147x owners out there are there not?

I've found negative comments on almost every thing I've looked and have seen a few positive comments on here and there. I need to set my mind at ease.

Congratulations on your 2016 147x!
We have a 2014 and have had a great time with few issues. We would definitely purchase another Palomino.
My dealer had 2 new 2016 147x models recently and they had a "Off Road" sticker with bigger wheels and tires and lifted some. Did you happen to get this? I would have liked this package on ours.
I hope yours is trouble free and have a great time camping!

Thanks for the reply. Helps with setting my mind as ease. It does not have the off road package. Nether of the 2016 147x my dealer had in Stock had the off road package.

We got our 147x last year. It did have a few issues, but the dealer repaired them without compliant or complication at the end of the season. I would still buy the camper, even with the issues we had. It suits our needs, isn't too much, and is a great "introduction" for us into the world of campers (former tent campers we are). Congrats on your new camper!

Lol I know the feeling. Ours is sitting in our driveway just waiting for the weather to warm up... and the way Ohio weather has been, will probably be in August! Lol

Looks like we may finally have a break in our weather, LBJ!

Snow, rain, wind, or hail, we are setting up our camper at our campground next weekend when the season opens. LOL It may be too cold to dewinterize it yet but we will still be camping! LOL

Any issues with keeping your cabinets closed during transport? Are you using any cabinet locks (baby locks) Cupboard bars etc? With our TT we has things on the floor to keep them from opening during transport. Now having overhead cupboards worried I should lock them or risk having everything fall out when transporting.

No. Thankfully everything stayed shut. Or at least if they opened during travel, they closed on their own by the time we got there without anything falling.

We've had a couple of the overhead cabinets open every now and then. I just use these bungee balls that I had laying around to keep them closed just in case. You can even feed one through the microwave handle and onto the adjacent cabinet door. Bungee Balls, 25-pk | Canadian Tire
