I am not sure at this point if it's something you've overlooked, or if in fact there is no info in the manual regarding winterization and the water filter/pump in general

I don't think they are even on a level to be considered "Generic". IMHO they are totally useless for anything but starting a campfire. I love my Flagstaff and FR products, but what they give you for a "Manual" is disgraceful.
