2003 sv190t bunk end leak

Newb here Having a minor leak in upper tent corner while set up. My question... Is there supposed to be silicone gobbed in each corner on the outside? I am thinking this needs to be peeled off and apply new silicone in the corners.. Any better ideas?

Pics are good. So is the caulk on the trailer frame, tent corner or both?

Also, there might be a better solution besides silicone, which is not a product I like to use on the outside of a trailer.

Here are the pictures. When we were looking at hybrids we seen this a lot in the corners and thought it was "normal"

That is not normal. At least that is not how it would have left the factory.

So seeing where that caulk is located, is your leak in the inside of the canvas directly behind all that caulk?

Yes there is a minor leak that comes from the top corner where the tent meets the trailer on the inside corner. After picture I peeled some silicone away to find a smaller blob right behind it. Does it come with any silicone from the factory? I am wondering how it seals that corner affectively without silicone. It may be running down the inner rubber seal and collecting in the corner.

whatever was done at the corner of the canvas, is not factory.
looks like a previous owner must have. not even a bad dealership would do such a hack job.

I'm not certain how they connect the canvas to the wall in a Surveyor hybrid. Maybe one of the members with a Surveyor can chime in.

Your thoughts about the inner seal being a possible culprit is a good one. These bunk seals do wear out over time and need to be replaced and yours are eight to nine years old.

I think your next step is to diagnose exactly where that leak is coming from and why. Water has a tendency to travel so is it the seal, the poor caulking, or something else and this is where it's showing? A bit of time spent now narrowing it down will save you time in the long run.

I peeled all silcone off and re adjusted inner seals that were bent up from the gobbs of silicone. No tears in tent at all. I also adjusted the sides of the tent that seemed to low that created a gap in the upper corner. Doused with water and no leaks.
