Just book 5 days in Custer State Park for June! Only $100.00 total at $18.00 a night with electric. Talk about affordable! Look forward to the trip!

I think they were pulling a joke on you about the bear spray. I am a native South Dakotan and have never heard of bears in the hills of SD. Bug spray, yes. Bear spray, no.

Switchbacks can be on a road or foot trail. They are used where ever there is a rapid change in elevation to reduce the grade of climb. The posted photo is a road.
