Is a Good Sam membership worth the $?

Hi All,

The wife was thinking we should get a Good SAM membership for the discount's. She thinks it will help save on gas and other items for South Dakota trip. Does anyone have a membership and is it worth the $200 to $300 investment?

Where did you come up with the $300 figure. It's $20 per year. And yes it's worth it.

I called these guys yesterday and was quoted between $200 and $300 (believe it or not) for a premium package that allows a savings of $0.06 (regular) per gallon of gas. Only at select gas station that I have never heard of by the way. In addition, discounts on camp sites (only at Sam Goody sites). Also the regular 10% at Camping World. When I brought a membership last year I remember only paying around $27.00 at Camping World. What the hell happened to the pricing??? Maybe I am missing something!

Go to their website. You can join from there! Once you're a member you can apply for the gas card. If a member, discounts are automatic at CampingnWorld. And many other campgrounds offer GS discounts.

It sounds like they are quoting you the ROADSIDE SERVICE plan. That's different then the camping and discount GS membership.

Either they were quoting a 3 yr. roadside service or maybe it was a lifetime membership....yearly membership is around $20 I did go & do the lifetime time with the camping world discounts & the campground discounts it has paid for itself. But it was a little less than $200 but they gave me credit for time served LOL.....................

Good Luck.................

From what I've seen, that discount is off a marked-up price. You'd end up paying more to buy there.

On the Good Sam Web site, it has a current special of $17 a year if you join for 5 years.

The fuel is at Pilot & Flying Js I see them all over but they are truck stops usually on the interstates & not always the cheapest, there are over 500 of them in the US.

The best deals are the free shipping (over $100 purchase) @ camping word & the other camping world discounts

The campgrounds that accept Good Sam for a 10% savings

Go to their web site to check out the other benefits...................

You are getting the price for the Roadside Service plan (like AAA). We just bought our membership and got the 5 year deal - was $85 if memory serves.

And for that $17 per year - that's 2 camping trips and cost is covered. Not to mention the discount at CampingWorld.
