New Hampshire trip

After logging almost 5,000 miles we are back in Colorado. Had a great time and had no problems other then moisture under the mattresses. Still haven't been able to eliminate it.

Other than leaving a bunk window open slightly, i get the same problem especially as the temperature drops. Using a space heater vs propane heater seems to lessen the dampness.

The moisture under the mattress is caused by the temp differential between the inside of your Surveyor and the outdoor temp on the other side of the bed platform. Try something like Reflectix insulation under the mattress as a thermal break.

Reflectix didn't work for us.
All that changed is the moisture forming on the Reflectix, instead of the bunk door.

Bikendan, did you eventually find something that worked? At least the Reflectix wouldn't absorb any moisture. If the Reflectix got damp rather than the fabric of the mattress, that would be an improvement but obviously if you can prevent any condensation that would be preferred.

The problem with condensation is that the mattress bottom absorbs it, not the Reflectix or the bunk door surface.
I also tried 1/4" foam insulation that had a silver foil side. Same result.
I finally tried an old wool blanket, which wasn't perfect but was better than the others.

Try equalizing the temp between the inside of the coach and the storage area under the bed...

Speedjester, This is the Hybrid TT section and hybrid beds don't have storage areas under them. They hang out in the air, like popup beds and are also covered by canvas. Therefore they are subject to outside temps more than a bed you're describing.

I apologize.. I wasn't aware... Is there a way of maybe putting something between the bed and the bunk to raise it a bit and allow for air circulation..maybe build a type of raised platform..maybe a piece of lattice cut to size raised by a few pieces of 1/2" stock..should break down easy and store in small area... Just a thought ..good luck..

Some have purchased such a system that's used on boat berths, but they are very expensive. That's why I just use a wool blanket since it allows for some limited air movement. And it's cheap.

A quick Google search found these 2 products similar to what Bikendan described:

http://www.hyperventmarine.com/products.html

http://drymesh.net

Both are expensive as Bikendan said.

As a side comment, I rode My Hog up Mt Washington...........what a ride! 70 deg and sunny at the base, 40 deg and overcast with rain and sleet at the top. And that was August! The kanc was absolutely gorgeous too.
