we use a BBQ lighter also.
we had lighting issues last week when camping.
had ran the stovetop burners long enough, we thought, to have got all the air in the propane lines out.
but, when we tried to light the pilot, it took a long time and we held the knob in for more than 40 seconds each time.
finally after 6 attempts, it finally lit and didn't have any more problems lighting it.
so, we need to let the pilot run longer, especially since this was the first lighting since last year.

Thanks ya,ll. The misus is now a happy camper again. I will chalk this up to too many years of electric ranges. Right on the money, hold the dang button into light the pilot. Of yezh and the binder with all the distructions is 600 miles south at the house. Besides who really reads those things after all.

Thanks everyone for the help and humor.

Glad you got the oven lit! On ours, couldn't light the oven because the knob would hit the front panel before going in far enough. I found a tip on line to pull the knob off and put something in the hole so it wouldn't go on the post as far. stuck a little piece of toothpick in there and it has been working fine for 3 years.

This may start a new thread but turn the oven down 50 degrees to cook if you are used to an electric oven.

I can get the pilot light to light without any problem. My problem is getting it to remain lit after the oven heats to the set temp. Any ideas?

Our oven did the same thing. Pilot would burn fine main burner would light and oven would come up to temp. Then main burner would go out. When thermostat called for heat again pilot would blow out. Found pilot burner assembly was bad. A bunch were made with wrong size orifice hole. Got a new one from suburban. All works fine now.

Have not used the oven in either of my trailers although GF said this year we will as we have some big trips planned with other campers and since we are Italian she plans on using it to warm food, let the Camping begin, Yum
