New unique hybrid floorplan from Coachmen
saw this on RV.net's Hybrid forum:
Freedom Express - Coachmen RV
have never in the past 9 years, ever seen such a trailer floorplan, with a walk-around queen bed and a canvas bunk end.
this might fit the tastes of a number of customers out there, especially with the "turtling" capability that this one has.

I think this might be for the buyers that can't decide if they want a hybrid or not.

For folks with just 1 kid this almost gives them their own bedroom. Pretty neat.
I bet it's a bugger to regulate temperature out in that bunk, though!

Agreed its for those who want the traditional TT sleeping for the main bed. For instance; those parents with one of two young 'uns or a couple who want to plan for visitors (grown kids, grand kids, friends) so they can turtle when the second bed isn't needed as bikendan said.
Two doors, a much bigger fresh water tank and slightly larger gray and black are nice.
Its relatively long and tall and seems to be pretty heavy (~7,500lbs) for a hybrid, though.

I'm hoping that something like this eventually comes out based on the Roo 19 floorplan. We would like something a little shorter so we can still camp in the state parks. We have an adult son and my brother are infrequent overnight visitors and floorplan like this would be perfect.

One thing that would be nice was if the walkaround was 80" also. That leaves me out.

I submitted this suggestion a few years ago that it would be nice to have a extra bed in a fifth wheel or travel trailer for when you have guest. I had 2 hybrids that we liked but have stepped up to fifth wheel after tt but really loved the 3 bunk queen option of our last hybrid. I guess someone actually listened to bad you can't get pat. on things like these

The tongue weight on this rig is crazy at 844lbs. It looks like the majority of the slide is in front of the axle creating a heavy tongue weight. It seems to me that the people that would be interested in this model are a hybrid between hybrids and full hard side. I love the floor plan but coachmen limited their buyers by creating such a heavy tongue weight, unless people don't listen to the weight police. I talked to a dealer today who told me not to worry about the tongue weight. I didn't like that answer. I have a 23ikss that has a tongue weight of 514# and wouldn't even consider this one at 844#

We have this model the 254dsx. The pic in the original post is not the right one. We LOVE the versatility of this rv. Just me and wife. But if the kids visit we can sleep 8.

Btw on the tongue weight... Our jeeps limit is around 750. But with the right weight dist hitch you can leverage off at least 100lbs. Also dry weight is 5100 not the 7500 someone posted.

Have you weighed it on a cat scale? I'd be interested in all the numbers and the rating on your jeep. My parents were interested in it but the weight didn't work for them based off factory numbers on this unit

Also I think the 7500 lbs was total weight with cargo carrying capacity

The dry weight is 5488 & hitch weight is 762 which IS heavy for a hybrid & definitely too heavy for a Jeep... The propane tanks, pass through storage, under-master bed storage, and master closets are all up-front so that tongue weight will only increase...
We ALMOST bought a hybrid but settled on a 34' 2-slide PT Tracer 3150 that has a dry weight of 6400 & empty hitch of 640. The kids/guests have their own room with slide-out & we have a big outdoor kitchen... We camp at state parks alot & as long as I pick a 30' site I am good to go with some maneuvering.
I like that when we close the doors & windows we cannot hear our neighbors.... I guess you could do the same with this hybrid if you don't need the bunk end...

Did you pull the trigger on this unit? We moved from a 21SS and ordered a 229TBS. I liked it due to short length to get to my hunting areas at high elevation but allows my two small boys their own space.
