Should I trust the exterior height of 12'6" listed or should I measure myself?

I'd measure yourself.. Better to be safe. Do it while hooked up in case the truck causes a change to the height.

With unit level run a 2x4 across the tallest part hanging it over the side then measure to ground.
Best off measure your unit to be sure.

Far better than thinking your 12'6" because that is what they told you and knowing for sure than meeting the bottom side of a 13" bridge!
