24 HFS Toilet Issue

I usually check inside my 24 HFS every couple days when it's not in use. Lately I've noticed water in my toilet bowl, and usually step on the valve to dump it. It got me to thinking why it keeps filling. I've ruled out the ceiling vent leaking and it appears that the spot that puts water into the toilet is leaking, very slowly. My trailer is parked, without power and with the fresh water tank drained. The battery disconnect is open and I always turn faucets on to relieve pressure in the lines.

How can my toilet valve be leaking water into the toilet with no pressure in the system?

Also keep in mind, when parked I have not drained the water heater, and it is switched to the normal run position for valves and I also did not drain the low point drains since it will only site for a few weeks at a time before our next outing.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated before I jump to replacing my water modulator on the toilet.

Have you relived the pressure in the toilet water line when you open all the other faucets?

Regardless, it still shouldn't be happening...pressurized or not. You're probably going to be replacing that valve.

I thought you needed water in the toilet to keep the seal flexible. Why store it dry ?

I leave water in the bowl when it's stored. I also do relieve the pressure in the toilet after the pump is turned off for storage. I open all faucets, shower and toilet to relieve pressure.

I talked to Thetford yesterday and they were slightly puzzled also. The lady I was talking to suggested replacing the water valve, but she said the vacuum breaker should still be fine.

If the water heater is still full and you closed all the valves after relieving the pressure, then as the day heats up it could slightly repressurize the system and if the toilet valve is leaking it would leak water into the bowl due to the repressurization. Relieving the pressure doesn't equate to draining the system. There's still water in the lines it's jus not under pressure.

I ad the local RV place order me a new water valve for the toilet. I price checked around and this dealership was cheaper online. I'm going to keep it on hand for the next trip and if it leaks with the pump or city water pressure on, I'll swap out the water valve.

I have since opened the faucet in the bathroom with hot and cold handles on to see if the pressure could escape that way instead of the toilet, if the heat of the day is re pressurizing the system.
