OK, here is what I have learned through experience with this toyhauler. My 2011 XLR27HFS has a sticker GVW rating of 7876 pounds. Empty it weighs 5850. That gives me just over 3000 pounds of freight (food, water, bikes,etc). I run my trailer very light except for the bikes in the back. The two bikes together are around 1500 pounds and I have weighed my trailer (completely loaded) and it weighs in at 7180 pounds - 700 pounds to spare, right. Wrong - Forest River installed 3500 lb axles under this thing, so, when I loaded it and went on a trip, the tires started rubbing and the dealer told me the axles were bent from overloading. Fought with FR for several months and they ultimately upgraded my axles to 5000 lb, so now I am fine.

Watch those loading numbers real close and check the axle rating on your unit. Never did find out how FR was able to rate this unit at 7876 GVW when the axles were only good for 7000 pounds......

I am the proud owner of 2014 XLR 27 HFS and need to mount my condor wheel chock. It appears I have to drop the black water which is located above the rear tires. I believe this tank is for the shower and bathroom sink. I do see where the sink or shower dump into the tank so I am wondering what will happen when I drop this tank? Are there additional connectors I can not see? Does the tank fit tight to the plywood floor? Any input would be deeply appreciated.

I heard all you need to do is tie the motorcycle down if you have a condor. Someone on this forum does it this way without the condor being bolted and has no problems.

Ramp door
Anyone had a problem with their ramp door? This is what I discovered today. Never overloaded and am very careful with supporting ramp if not hitting level. I load my Brute Force 650, about 600 lbs and my scooter, under 200 lbs. I have used it as a deck but never more than 2 people.

Mounting wheel chock. I wondered the same thing so here is what I did. I have the H.D. version of the Condor that will free stand by itself. I am also only hauling 1 bike (2010 CVO ULTRA). With the front of the wheel chock up against the wall, one of the holes at the back of the chock line up with the center tie down ring bolt. So I notched the hole at the back end of the chock so I am able to loosen 1 D ring plate bolt enough to slide the condor in place and re-snug the screw back down. This has secured the rear of chock. For a little more piece of mind I use a ratchet strap and secure the other side of the rear of chock to the D ring straight across to left. For the front of chock, I put in 2 metal threaded inserts and did not go all the way through the floor. Put Condor in place, tighten rear down and put 2 bolts in to secure the front. 1 trip with bike for a total of about 1000 miles and it rode fine. This way the chock can be removed very easy. Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. After rereading the post I had already decided to try the extenion plate idea. So I picked up another pit stop adapter (quick release mount) and welded it to a 1/8" steel plate. I plan to remove center D ring and bolt the back of the plate with the D ring location mounting a small plate below with weld nuts to replace the wood screws. I also plan to add 2 additional bolts to hold plate as far forward as possible with out removing tank, Might be over kill but I am hauling an Ultra Class (1000 #'s) and concerned a weight shift might send the Ultra tumbling and I am sure it would take out the camper and bike. Will post some pictures when I complete this weekend.

Greetings one and all. Last weekend I hauled my buddies R1200GS Adventure and my KTM 990 up to Moab from the LA area. The trailer had plenty of room. I used the i[URL="http://www.harborfreight.com/motorcycle-wheel-chock-69026.html"]nexpensive chocks from Harbor Frieight. I didn't bolt the chocks down as I don't want to have to uninstall them or risk stubbing my toe/tripping over them. They did fine. I tied down the bikes front and back with standard tie downs (Ancra). So we did about 1600 miles over the weekend. The bikes didn't budge. They were a challenge to get out of the chocks. Definitely takes two people to do that as the wheel wedges itself in and the chock wants to roll backwards with the wheel.

I also bought the harbor freight chocks for my 27HFS. I have a Roadking Classic and have a hard time getting the bike out of the chock. I bolted it to the floor to keep the chock stationary while trying to pull the bike out of the chock. At this point I will take my bike jack to lift the bike and take the rear hinged portion of the chock off then set the bike down and roll the bike backwards. It's a lot of work but that's the plan until I can figure out something better.

I found a better way, haha. I was trying to get the bike out of the chock while sitting on it, I found if I stand on the side with my wife on the other side the bike pulls right out of the chock.
The bottom line is the Harbor Freight Chock works great, no dropping tanks to mount and holds bike without straps until strapped for travel.

In My XLR 27 HFS the screws are approximately 4" long, self tapping metal type. Approximately 2 1/2"-3" sticks out the bottom of the frame plates.
