27 HFS with rear bunk

We have an new 27 HFS which has the rear electric bed. The underside of the bed has a black finish and makes the garage area pretty dark when it is raised up. I would like to add lighting to this area and am at a loss of the best way. I have considered the following:

1. Install interior light on underside of bunk with some kind of flexible system for the wiring to allow for the bed raising and lowering.
2. Install wall lighting around the window areas on either side and use surface wire mold to route the wiring to the nearest wall receptacle.
3. Install rope lighting at each window area and use extension cord or wire mold to hold cord in position.

Has anyone out there used one of these ideas or maybe even something more creative and attractive? I welcome your suggestions.

How about those battery operated LED stick-up lights on the bottom of the bunk? Those can put out quite a bit of light and would make installation a breeze. Also, if you didn't like it you could just take them right off and there would be no damage/holes to repair.

That's a very good idea and I have considered that. Just looking for a more permanent solution.

I have been thinking the same thing, I have a plan not complete yet. I have to find the correct lights and mount them on the bottom of the bed with all the wiring concealed.
Probably a winter project.

Are your beds comfortable? I can feel the cross rungs in mine. I couldn't see myself sleeping on it.

The mattresses in our dual bunk are miserable. Only the kids use them. On my list of things to replace.

If anyone has pictures of their lighting solutions, please post. I just bought a 2013 and am looking for cost effective mods. I pick it up next Saturday, 27th.

I do not have any pictures but put a fluorescent strip light on top of the window blind valance on each side with 3m removable velcro. Not the perfect lighting solution but works for now.

In regards to the bunk being uncomfortable. I put 3 inch foam under the bunk mattress and it makes the bed pretty comfortable. I slept on it last weekend and was pleased.

Good idea on the lights. If anyone has pictures please post. As for the bed, yes it's very uncomfortable. I will be adding the foam and eventually putting the mattress from our master when we replace that one. But it works for the kids.

Another thought is to simply apply some light colored material under the bed such as a light (cheap) carpet or lighter shade matting of some type. This would save energy over the lights as well.
