29HFS, Generator will not charge batteries

Went camping this weekend, used a Honda 6500 generator, lost all battery power half way through the weekend. AC/Microwave work, nothing else would off the generator, no awning, slide, lights, fridge. My battery master switch is on, what else can I check to troubleshoot this? I need my camper this weekend and was hoping to have this fixed. This is a 29HFS I am working on. Dealer is over 3 hrs away, no time to make that trip if its something simple I can diagnose.

Also do the lights, slide, awning, fridge, awning, electric beds, only work on battery power then?

Check the high current fuse(s) in the distribution panel and also check to see if there is one up near the hitch. They are usually 30-40 Amp fuses. If they are blown, you will have no 12V power even with working converter.

I checked all fused and breakers inside the unit, I will have to look up by the tongue for one tonight after work. Thanks!

Just spoke to forest rivers electrical tech, according to him since I don't have an on board generator my batteries aren't going to charge unless I take battery tenders with me as well. Does this sound right?

Also check the battery disconnect switch. Mine is easy to turn and not make contact sometimes.

With a properly working converter your batteries should charge anytime the rig is plugged into shore power whether it's a generator or hard wired 30 amp receptacle.

That's what I thought myself. Hmm I will have to use a multimeter and test some points around the system.

Ricky,
There is a little reset button under the camper right by the batteries. It's where the battery cables connect to a junction panel right before entering the camper. There are pic in another forum, can't search right now.
Good luck...;-)
