Add Us to the XLR family

Just jumped in (or back) to the toy hauler world with the purchase of a new 2010 XLR 25FKV. We are actually full time RV'ers (our home is a 2010 Mobile Suites) in the process of completing our home base in the TX Hill Country. During the time we have been working on our spot, we acquired a 2010 Can-Am Spyder RT-S and rather than double tow it behind the Suites, we opted to go the toy hauler route. We looked around and decided we didn't want another 5th wheel and spotted a still-on-the lot '10 tag along XLR. The 25FKV fit our needs as the Spyder fits and there is only the three of us (Me -Bill-, Jennifer and Wilma our "What-Tzu"). Our tow vehicle is a '09 Ford F450. We are looking forward to weekend to month long trips without having to haul out the Suites and leave the Spyder behind.. This is not our first toy hauler; the first was a '03 KZ 29' 5th wheel nor our first Forest River product; the 5th wheel before the Suites was an '05 Cedar Creek Silverback.

Anyway, enough babbling on.. we pick up the XLR Wednesday and I just wanted to stop in, introduce ourselves and say "hey!"

Welcome

Always good to see another XLR family jump in on the forum. It feels pretty lonely out here most days!

Congratulations on your new Toy Hauler and enjoy the new Spyder. They look a blast to ride and I am sure you will have some great places to explore with it.

Be safe, have fun, and enjoy the new trailer!

Congrats on the new TH. Glad to have you here. The weather is getting cooler in Texas, time to camp more.

Thanks everyone... looking forward to getting the XLR and back into "toy hauling".. prefer to ride the Spyder but want to take Wilma with us.. this way we can take her and leave her in relative comfort when we explore. Haven't pulled anything of the size of the 25FKV on a bumper pull in a long time.. more used to hauling 5th wheels around.. so I have things to learn again.. The F450 has a class V factory hitch and air bags (my Mobile Suites has 4200lbs of pin weight) so the pull home with the XLR will be with sway control only.. Not going to pay the dealer's price for a WD htich if I end up needing one.

Thanks again.

Congrats on the XLR. I also have an XLR ('11 29MBV) we have been using to haul our Yamaha FJR around the country. We're considering replacing the FJR with a Can-Am Spyder RT - the old weak knees and age factor. I'm curious about how well your Can-Am loads up. Are there any issues with clearance at the top of the ramp, i.e., scrapping the underside of the Can-Am as you go over the hinge point of the ramp?

BTW, we're currently parked in Ingram,TX through 4/17. It would be great if we could meet and chat about XLR's and Can-Am's.

Seems like the XLR family is growing here in Texas. We pick ours up next week. First trip is going to be the bend on the Colorado for a few days with good friends and family. Hope we enjoy ours as much as everyone else has seemed to. Congratulations on yours.
