Does anyone know of or has added an aux fresh water tank . the 29hfs xlr is just 54 gal and i would like to increase it at least 20 to 30 gallons .
don't understand why the grey water is 57 gallons and only 54 fresh

Thanks in advance

Haven't heard of anyone adding an AUX FW tank, other than having one in the bed of your truck and using an AUX pump to refill your FW tank.

For comparison, my unit has 54 gal fresh, 54 gal black (because both the shower and the toilet empty into the black,) and 32 gal gray (both sinks only.) You'll always have more "waste" capacity than "fresh."

That would be my recommendation as well. Something similar to this 30 gallon water bladder is what I use for refills.

We have been camping mostly in state parks with no water or sewer hookups. Our TT only has a 42 gal. FW tank & 30 gal. gray tank. Therefore we purchased a 45 Gallon Portable RV Fresh Water Tank (bladder) from CW and a Barker 42 Gallon Waste Tank from AMZ. We also bring our own drinking water in a 5 gallon water cooler bottle w/hand pump & use an external filter when filling-up our TT FW tank.

I fill the bladder on top of my PU cab so that it gravity feeds into the FW tank. I have only used the waste tank for gray.

My fresh water is 60 gallons. I have a 50 gallon, hard water tank that goes in the bed of the truck, in front of the 5th wheel. I also have a 50 gallon collapsible water container that I can use, that fits behind the 5th wheel. I do have an 8ft. box. I also used the hard container when I had a 3/4 ton with short box. I have a 12 volt water pump to move the water where I want it to go. We dry camp a lot so we have a 35 gallon blue tote as well.

My 29hfs has 57 gallons grey is via two tanks, one for the sink (just behind the fresh tank) and the other for the bathroom sink and shower (over the rear-most axle). The black is 32 gals. (over the front axle) I suspect the reason for the tank sizes and placement is engineered into the unit and would be too complicated and risky to get into modifying the frame stucture, IMO. This is the bladder tank Rhino mentioned...

I use a Thetford Smart Tote. CW puts them on sale, occassionally. Nothing wrong with the Barker.

Thetford Smart Tote Portable Waste Tank 27 gal RV Camper - $179.9..

those bladders are nice but won't work for me . .does anyone know the lay out of the water tanks on the 29 xlr ? I have found a place that has the tanks from 5 to over a 100 . i think an extra 20 would be nice not expensive about $100.. they will put inlets and out lets where you want them and the sizes you want . making brackets for under the unit next to existing FW tanks should not be a big deal or i can locate in another area to help with weight distribution . If I can find one the same height and tee into the out let before the pump and have them add a vent fitting to the top and pipe that to the existing vent on the FW tanks it will fill with the same FW fill and the water will equalize in both tanks . Then as i use them the water will be used from both tanks equalizing weight . Guess I'll have to wait till i get my unit and get in under there to look at it while i prep and add insulation and fill gaps . I'm all into making it my own and modifying to suit my needs . Carry water in separate containers just won't do , as my truck bed will be in use carry my tools

Wolfwistle .

I see you mention the grey water tanks are two separate tanks ? I'll have to see the sizes if there split in size that would be a tank of about 28.5 gal each . I could cut one out of the system and plumb it all into one tank and use the other for a aux fresh or replace it and use it's location for a aux . That may work just fine for me . see no need to have 57 gal of grey water

You may want to call FR before modifying your trailer , it could save your warranty.

From FR warranty page-

Kula's

Yes if you mofidy it will cause loss of warranty of that part or area . if i change tanks and redo the plumbing under the unit that will cause those componets to not be covered any more , but it wouldn't hurt say the fridge , or furnace , etc . with just a one yr warranty i'm not concerned with changing the grey water from 57 gal to 28 gallon and increasing my FW storage .
very simple plumbing
