Awning led question

On my 29HFS the awning led and the front porch light only work when the inside coach lights are also on. Well the interior lights that operate at the same switch at least. Does any one else's operate this way. seems a bit silly to waist battery power running inside lights if we are outside whole boondocking.

On our 27 HFS the awning L.E.D's are on its own switch, no other lights or switches have to be turned on for them to work. Seems like something has been wired wrong.

On our Flagstaff 27RLWS the Porch and LED lights are on their own switch. No other lights has to be on. I agree with Spiker51

Campingchick, I have to think it is in the switch itself. I wonder how hard will be to find the proper switch?

I have a question for you Scooter86. in the garage there is a panel of 4 light switches next to the bathroom door. we can't find what the second switch to the right goes to, any ideas?

My left switch goes to the lights over the garage door outside. The next one is for the overhead lights in the garage. The next is for the yellow outside light next to the door. The right most switch is for the overhead fan in the garage.

Scooter86, my DH went through the switches today, he thinks it's the style of switches they use. He's not interested into redoing all that, but if you find an easy fix we would love to hear it. But, we did have a few issues we are dealing with. We have no 12 volt power in the camper and thank god for these forums. After talking with the dealer tech and reading many good posts, we found the 30 amp resetable breaker is bad. Couldn't find any in town so ordered a few online. Also in his search to figure out the 12volt problem, he discovered that the cheap foil duct work behind the inverter was torn, so we were losing all our heat behind the inverter. Fixed it with foil duct tape. It's a good thing to take a look "behind the mechanics" to look for problems. We are still very happy with the camper and can't wait to try it out.

Seems like a factory screw up?

Definitely am of the opinion that that is the case (factory defect). I am making a list of things that need to be "fixed" on mine to include the piece of crap support stands that fell apart on my built-in dinette in the garage. Several factory install adjustments need to be done. But, let me make myself very clear: I (we) am (are) VERY pleased with the 29HFS XLR TH. Overall it is a magnificent piece of equipment and I anticipate many years of enjoyment. The trip down to Florida from Ohio (Franklin is where I picked it up) was uneventful and it pulled like a champ. Very pleased. Oh - and our virgin camping stay was at Seven Points Campground in Heritage TN just east of Nashville of I-40. This is a Corps of Engineers Park - Hey! Do yourself a favor if you're in the area. Very nice park and very nice managers...
Oh - we have dubbed our trailer "Valhalla"...

I haven't had the opportunity to dig into it yet, but it is probably the actual switch they are using since it effects multiple units. I wonder how hard it will be to find a new switch for it? Also, I agree, love the unit. We have only camped in the driveway so far. We had a brake wire severed at delivery, dealer fixed same day. The only other issue so far besides that switch is the speakers are wired a bit wonky. Everything works, just maybe not the way I would prefer.

So, it's not just a matter of re-routing the wiring on the light switch panel by the front door? Definitely sounds like a factory problem to me...looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

If there is more than one switch at the location then it can be fixed. Pull the switches out of the wall and you have to get a constant hot wire to the line side of the led switch.
Problem solved

Had to add my awning lights so did wiring myself, but it should be an easy fix determine which wires of the switch go to the inside lights and add another switch to cover them.

In my previous trailer, I had multiple ceiling lights working off a master wall switch and each individual light had it's own controlling switch on the light fixture itself. Not the case here. We have three switches on the wall or cabinet panel by the front door. 1st one controls inside lights, next one the porch light and the 3rd one is the LED lights on the awning. The way it is wired (or, at least mine is), the switch controlling the interior light has to be on for the outside lights to work. I'm thinking R Whitlow is absolutely right. It's just a matter of re-routing the wiring scheme on the three wall switches.

Good news! The issue is a fairly easy to fix mix up at the factory. There are 2 orange and white/white wires on my unit at this fixture. One is hot from the power supply, the other is from the ceiling lights. The power on my unit is connected directly to a switch. It should have gone into the connection that has 3 more wires, each connected to its' own switch to supply the power(as R Whitlow mentioned above.) Switching the wires will make everything work as it was intended. All it will cost you is about 10 minutes and a few new connectors. Not worth the fuel to swing it by the dealers for me.

In the first photo I am holding the crimp connector with the offending party.

The second image shows both orange/white wires that will need to be switched.

Hah, took me longer to attach the pics than to fix the switch. I need to go adjust my link-fu, (or at least read the forum directions again!)
