Awning light strip

On our 2015 xlr29hfs, the light strip under the power awning will only switch on when the switch for the main living area light is on. is this correct? Or is there a mix up in the wiring?

Sounds like a mix up. We have 2015 Windjammer 2809 and ours has a separate switch that operates it.

My 2015 led light strip works by itself. Yours must have wire issue

Someone else recently posted the same issue, seems there was a misswire issue. I think they were able to pull the switches off the wall and find the wire.

Have not had this problem, but look under cabinet and in screw the corner panel pieces to access the back of the switches. The use one main power wire and jumper across switches. I'm guessing they jumped from from wrong side of living room switch. Move wire that is jumped across switches to the otherside of living room switch and that should take care of it.

Pull the switches and you will/should find two orange wires. One being a jumper wire between the switches and one with a blue terminal. It sounds like those two are reversed. Make the one with the blue terminal the jumper wire between the switches and the one that WAS jumping between the switches, make that one the one with the terminal. Now that I have you thoroughly confused, give it a try and let me know

Mine had that problem and my friends an electrician helped me reconfigure it, but afterwards the led strip does not light up as fast as it did. The strip sometimes has dark dpots, but after awhile they all light up. Not sure why that happened. I ended up only changing two leads and their position. Now each switch is independent.

Thank you for the replies. We will look at the wires the next time we camp.
