Awning pulling out ?
hello, I have a 2015 24 fqsl and while camping this weekend a camper next to me came over and pointed out that my awning is starting to pull out in the one corner, I am still under warranty but is this something that I can put back in myself, I really didn't plan on taking my camper back until the end of the camping season, I also noticed that they over tightened one screw in my shower surround and cracked the one corner in it. any suggestions. thanks joe

i have the same awning issue i noticed this weekend. this week i plan to see what i can do to fix myself if no i will get it taken care of by the dealer as long as it doenst cost me any of my planned trips. id rather not use my awning than miss my trips. We only get a few months of camping between weather and kids school/sports.

It should be a pretty easy fix. Just pull it back to where it belongs and then put a screw in the track so the awning can't creep out again.

Just shove it back in and take a pair of pliers and close the channel down as far as you can reach. Make sure the material is centered on the roller.

It needs to be shoved back in the groove before traveling on the highway and with a blunt nosed tool it's not a hard task.

thanks for the input, I will try to shove it back in the track and give it a squeeze over the weekend, right now theres only about 3 inches or so that is out and its on the left side looking at the awning so I don't think the road wind is going to pull it out anymore, at least it didn't move anymore on my way home from camping this past weekend. thanks again for the help. take care joe

Mine is the same way! Brand new 27HFS and took it out for it's maiden over the weekend. The rear edge of the awning pulled out of the track where it attaches to the camper. I was coming on here to see about fixing it when I saw this thread. No idea why or how it happened, noticed it the first time we put the awning out.

Sure, I can try for one this evening when I get home. It's still airing out after loading up and driving home in a monsoon last night!
EDIT: Wife just took these for me. Camper is one week old and this was the first trip with it. We opened it up fully and I saw it hanging out. Dealer isnt all that far away (about 40 min) but where I have to park at home is a pain to get in and out of. Is this an easy at home fix or will I have warranty issues if I do that?

Simple fix. Roll the awning out about 1 or 2 feet. This releases tension on the fabric. Using vice grips with a little tape around the jaws crimp the channel around the fabric after pushing it back into the channel. The tape will protect the finish. Using a small sheet metal screw, Set the screw through the channel and into the fabric. Your done. I always put screws in both ends of me awnings. Slide awnings as well. Some dealers that are proactive do this during prep.

Seems kind of sad that I have to do this to a 1 week old unit... I guess I shouldnt be surprised, this is my third FR camper and all three had QC issues that should have been caught at the factory.
