I have a custom fit Sunbrella cover on my 16 foot cuddy cabin boat and it is HEAVY! I can't imagine covering a 27 foot trailer with that material or is it a lighter version?

Before we had a steel enclosure built I used covers for years. Like previous poster just replaced regularly and taped patches in between so we always got the cheap ones.. Small tears did not bother me. Never worried about keeping anything other than the UV rays off and kept the exterior looking new.

Yes it is a somewhat lighter version. I had a Goldline, lasted about 1 1/2 yrs and was totally shot. Sunbrella doesn't tear any easier than other materials in my experience. I put tennis balls on the gutter spouts and bubble wrap on 4 corners + TV antenna. That's it. Calmark makes a really good cover, it has side supports and plenty of points to secure. Mine was $1050.00, it's a couple yrs old and is still in great shape. Seams are not the weak point, sharp edges need to be avoided. Here in mid Florida if you don't cover it the sun will destroy it in short order.

redhooker, you got me thinking about a steel structure. How much was yours? My initial research shows between 1 and 2 thousand bucks for my 20ft. trailer, just for materials.

Down here in FL a 12 by 50 with side walls is about 4K installed, a 12x25 would be around 2k and would include installation as well. We did a “classic” style so our 13’6” fiver fits in a 12’ high wall carport. My curb side also faces south so I only did one wall and got ours put in for $3500.
