I have an old faded black mud flap that I'm going to try it on. It is an amazing process, but obviously extreme care needs to be observed. It would be too easy to overheat the part... and expect that 300-500 degrees can burn you. Wait for it to cool. This coming from a guy who picked up a piece of angle the other day that I had just welded on... what doesn't kill you will make you stronger! I would suggest and plan to practice first.
