Black water flush

I have a new XLR 340x12hp when i hook up my water hose to the black water flush nothing happens. Does it have a valve on the inlet side that needs to be opened in order for the flush system to work?

My XLR27HFS does not. Hook up the hose and turn it on.

Could be a check valve problem, it might be stuck. Try taking the screen off and push it the plastic tab. Just make sure you stand off to the side when you push it in. The pic is of a regular fresh water connection but gives you an idea of what to look for.

OP: when you say "nothing happens," do you mean you're not seeing or hearing anything? I know with mine, the only way I know it's working is that I can hear a slight hissing sound from the plumbing in the bathroom, and when I open the drain for the black tank, water is coming out. You're telling us that no water is coming out of your drain when you have the flush on?

There is no input check valve for the factory installed black tank cleanout. There is however a backflow preventer in series with tank flush plumbing. It is mounted somewhere within your unit (under a sink, in a closet, in where the washing machine would be installed like mine or some other place). That puts it about 4' to 5' above your floor. Some are clear plastic and others are black plastic. I can hear the water input to my black tank but other than that the only real indication would be as stated previously "water coming out the drain with the flusher pressurized". One other thing, when you disconnect the hose from the flush out port there will probably be some residual back flow of water; Not to panic it will not be from your black tank just the residual flush water from the tube to the backflow preventer.

The check valve is located in the bath lav. We ran into a rash of bad ones. Your dealer should be able to replace that for you

How long are you running the water for? You do also have the black tank valve open as well? Mine took a minute or so for fluid to start coming out after turning the water on. And I only use the flush after draining the black tank. Jerry.

I've also been at a couple of campgrounds that have such low water pressure, it wouldn't force the check valve open. Have you only tried it from one water source?

I think I would go with his. Sounds like the backflow preventer is not opening.

When i hook up the water and turn it on the water hose pressures up. I let it run for about 5 minutes and when i opened the black tank drain nothing came out of it. I will have it back at the dealer next week to fix some other issues i have found I will add this to my list.

Good Idea, when you use your black tank flush you can here it working at the toilet. If not you have a bad valve or a kink in the line. The line is made out of hose material not plex, so it can kink.

We have a hose that we only use for black tank....it has no pressure regulator like the fresh water hose that is for fresh water only....we get full faucet pressure into the black tank, so is important to have drain open in case roof vent is stopped up some...
if no leaks in system water should come out vent on roof...and we sure do not want that if we forget to open the main drain.....

Crawl under your sink cabinet with a flashlight and look up for the valve. If it's clear, this should work.... Have a helper turn on the black tank flush and watch for water flow up into the valve. If working properly you'll see the water rush into it closing the spring assisted flapper, then run out the other end down into your black tank.

My check valve was under bathroom sink and installed backwards from factory, I was able to take it apart and turn it around and all is well, good luck!

I have the same problem with new 340x12. No flushing noise, no water out the waste hose.

sounds like the check valve is installed backwards or faulty, very easy fix although I'm not sure where yours is located, maybe under your bathroom sink, it has a water line in and water line out, just unscrew both and turn it around and reinstall,, good luck

It's probably the vacuum breaker in the bath lav. We had a rash of them that were made wring

So should I remove, 180 it, and reconnect just in case it's installed wrong?
