Bye Bye 24HFS.....Hello 27HFS!
Just picked up our new 27HFS last evening at Clem's trailer sales in Ellwood City, PA. I feel bad trading in the 24HFS so soon, but this unit is a much better fit for us! I can't wait to get her loaded up and get camping and ATVing!

Congrats! Be sure and give your impressions compared to the 24. Right now I love my new 24 but I could definitely see a similar switch down the road. I was just a bit nervous on the length with my truck.

So far just towing wise I didn't notice any difference, but with a a diesel pickup it really needs to be a major weight difference to notice. I know the bigger shower will be a nice upgrade to the 24HFS!

Thanks guys! We should have had the 27HFS in the first place but when we had our CanAm Commander sidexside it was to long to fit in the 27 so we went with the 24 instead. Should'a could'a would'a! HaHa!

Oh I didn't realize a bigger shower...yeah, that would be a great upgrade! The thing I love about the 24 is I can carry my canoe in it. I also think the fold out seats are weirdly really comfortable. Other than that the 27 blows it away from what I can see. I have a half-ton and the lighter tongue weight on the 24 was a big factor for me. I have a hunch in a few years I will switch trucks and shortly after move to the 27.

Yeah Sponge definitely more "bigger toy" room in the 24 but I think I might be investing in the Diamondback truck cover in the future to make hauling other four wheelers easier. My wife and I both have four wheelers and in about 2 or 3 years my daughter will probably riding her own so I need to make more space!

Congratulations on the new 27 hfs While I can't compare the two. We really enjoy ours and I'm sure you will too. This was a perfect fit for my wife & I and the occasional trip with the kids. They call it our retirement home ha ha. We've been all over the northeast this season and couldn't be happier. It's really nice to be able to roll the toys out and go for a ride and it sure beats our tents. Have a great time with yours !

Thanks RFK, our daughter will be tagging along with us on most camping trips because she is only 3. As for our four wheeler excursions to Hatfield McCoy trails in W.V. and hopefully a few other ATV friendly areas we will hopefully have a babysitter. My wife and I got everything installed this evening, now I just need to test the furnace and A/C to see if they work. The fridge got cold pretty quick and there seems to be no issues with anything else.......yet. We had no issues with the 24HFS except the shower wand breaking the last time we used it, nothing a little bit of Duct tape couldn't handle! HaHa!

There's nothing duct tape and WD-40 can't handle. We were just out in PA two weeks ago around the PA Grand Canyon. Beautiful area. We invited our youngest to come along but at 26 he said "dad no offense but I have more fun with my friends". Too funny but he does come along if its just the two of us and our bikes. These are great campers to do that and were planning on the Blue Ridge Parkway next year. We need to find some good atv trails and load them up too.

RFK, they are a great all around camper, we've looked at quite a few but this one had the best bang for the buck! I'm sure my daughter will feel like your son does but probably at an earlier age, but for now all she asks to do is go camping! HaHa!

We are very happy with ours. Although we were thinking a few years down the road it would be nice to upgrade to one of the 5th wheel toy haulers. Our 27HFS is only a year old, and my truck is a 2013, so it will definitely be a few years down the road, but I really like the layout of the 5th wheels. I'm sure they will change a bunch before we decide to do it.

How are you finding the u-dinette comfort/convenience compared to the flip sofa?

We haven't taken the 27 out yet but just from being in it with our daughter in the garage it is way better. She had a hard time reaching the table in the 24 and kept spilling her food trying to reach it from sitting on the fold down couch. We almost went and had a bigger table top made to make it a lot more comfortable.

I know I am not the person you are asking this question too, nor can I offer a comparison since I have never used that particular style of flip sofa. What I can say is I hate the U dinette sofa! It is one of the most uncomfortable setting arrangements I have ever sat on! It's not bad as a bed, but as a sofa it stinks! We plan to pull ours out this winter, and replace it with this.

Or at least something similar.

I never understand why they make those u-dinettes so upright in all campers. It seems like it would be pretty easy to make them decent. That is one thing that surprised me on the 24...those flip sofa's actually have more of a gradual slant and feel like a normal sofa. Interesting idea you have there with the futon.

I could see if your a bigger person the U-dinette might be uncomfortable but I'm only 5' 11' 200lbs and I slide in there pretty easily. We don't really hang out in the TH to much if it nice outside so the need for an actual couch isn't something we need right now. That futon idea is ideal though!

Same here on the budget on the fiver, bu the I'm hopefull in the next 5-10 years.
As for the dinette, we can set at it to eat if we have to, but do spend the majority of our time outside. When it gets a little nasty out, and we wind up inside to watch tv or something is when it really stinks. Plan to use the futon and tv trays if we need to set inside to eat.
And I csnt take credit for the idea, saw it in another thread b here. I do like that particular futon though because of the weight and ease of use. Plus you csn fold one side down at a time if you like, which would be ideal when we are trying to put the grandson to sleep.

I wouldn't mind putting in the futon but I don't think my wife would like me tearing out our new dinette just yet! HaHa!
