dead battery

We have a 2014 XLR thunderbolt 380 AMP. We dry camp mostly so had a 2nd battery installed. However, we were finding our battery dead in the mornings (even after running the generator for several hours before bed and having a full charge). was not consistent. One night it would be dead and the next it could be full with no change in what was running (usually only our water pump and refridge on all the time). We would have jump start our generator to charge the battery and keep it running for several hours a day. Our shop was thinking we were nuts as nothing was showing pulling a charge from the battery when they check. They realized we were sane (as far as they know anyway) when i went to pick it up and...tada...battery was dead. My mechanic could not figure it out but i made a comment about the radio (the one in the living area not the one in the garage) would come on when we worked the slide. After looking at it, he felt it was defective and took it out to send in for warranty replacement. Well, that trip, we kept good battery charge the entire 5 days. So it could have been the battery, however, that does not explain the inconsistency of the battery charge. Any suggestions?
