If you ask on this forum, folks will tell you you need a 1 ton to pull a pop up and a Kenworth, etc for anything else.

The weak link in my truck has been the transmission but everything else has not been rebuilt and currently 329814 miles and climbing - headed to Santa Cruz on the 1st from Seattle

Unfortunately You won't know what you truck can handle till you tow it - - I seen plenty of 3/4 ton trucks that have the same issue as 1/2 tons and rated less than some of the new 1/2 tons

All 1/2 tons are not created equal!

WDH Setup is critical

Bring on the 1ton critics lol

Aftermarket big x2 stacked - transmission Cooler - about 3 times the size of the so called extra transmission cooler that GM provides w tow package (I did this after I bought and pulled the 29hfs - )

AmOil high temp transmission fluid

You have shown your numbers and your setup is good. The problem is when the vague question of "can I tow this with a 1/2 ton" comes up, it's almost impossible to answer. The tow ratings of 1/2 tons varies too much. From 5000 to 11,000 lbs. Payload varies greatly too.

Thanks guys. I may go with a little lighter trailer. My tow rating is 9300 pounds due to having the 3.42 gears. The trailer I'm looking at is a sport trek 302vth by venture rv (kz) it is 6480 dry and gvwr of 8600

I would still switch to E ply tires and add a transmission cooler

And you might want actually weigh any trailer your looking to buy before you drive it off the lot - I've noticed actual weight and sticker weight can be very different

Good luck

You still haven't discussed payload. What's the tongue weight of the venture and how much stuff (wife/kids/etc) are you putting in it?

Just askin'.

So your vehicle is far from stock, but you're telling the OP he can pull the same as you with a stock vehicle??

Polishdon For the record

If you read my first post -#6 post in this discussion - right after your post I stated what would need to be done to pull the 29hfs with a Chevy if he had a 4L60 transmission in his Chevy and other mods --if he has the 4L80 or above there would be no problems except towing up very steep grades - you just gonna be slow up steep inclines ---
