exterior light replacement

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I can't find anything in my manuals or on a search. The amber exterior light will not come on suddenly even though I have barely used it (by the door of my 24HFS). Is there some trick to removing the outer cover so I can check the light bulb and does anyone know what kind of bulb it uses? The other lights on the 3 switch panel work so I doubt it is a switch issue.

Usually you would use a small flat blade screwdriver and pry the lens off...see thread if similar lens

with a small blade straight screwdriver at the top of the lens, twist the blade which should allow prying the lens out. From memory I think it is a 1156 bulb. I am not near my 29hfs to look. I wonder if you have one of the mis-wired lights, where you have to have an inside light on before the outside light will work? It might be a long shot but worth checking.
