First Upgrade Done. Fifth Airborne Installed...

Swapped in my 5th Airborne pinbox today. Today being so warm seemed to be a good day to tackle it. It got off to a bad start when I found my kitchen galley slide was rubbing my floor leaving a mark. Our friend Bob talked me through the adjustment process and I had it functioning perfectly in about an hour. Not something I wanted to learn, but great knowledge to have in the future! If anyone needs their hydraulic slides adjusted, I'm your guy... Anyways, back to the hitch. Got it installed and found some wires were being pinched between the new pinbox and the fiberglass. So, back off it came and I trimmed the offending glass. Put it back on, the wires were no longer pinched, bolted her down, and installed the factory Lippert pinbox cover over it.

Thanks! That's why I went with the 5th over the Trail Air. Keeps it's guts on the inside so you can use the factory cover...

Nice combination, looks like a real good color match between the two.

Looks great. can that factory pin box cover be installed on other 5ers? I have a Columbus f370fl and I like that look of hiding that ugly pin box.

Yes, it's a lippert product and I believe it can be ordered in white or black. I'd call the FR parts dept. I'm sure they can get one ordered for you...

The pin box cover is made specifically for us at XLR. It comes to us white and we paint as needed.

Ah, that makes sense. The lippert ones have two screws that go into the top of the pinbox where as this one mounts directly under the RV's overhang around the mounting wings. I think the Lippert one is plastic too where this one is heavier fiberglass right Bob?

I think this would make a great factory option if anyone from your sales team is interested. 5th Airborne under XLR cover. Best of both worlds...

Lippert has there own version as well. Download there app "My LCI" and you might find it there. Plus it's a good app in general to have. Lot's of good technical advise and videos of how there products work.
