I know our XLR has 2 15 gal tanks. One is straight to the generator and one is to the pump.

One other reason maybe this. My 2013 Road Warrior 30C that I just sold had a single 30 gallon fuel cell. I could only get approximately 20 in and 20 out but when it was "empty" (pump was sputtering and fuel gauge read empty) the generator would still run just fine. I did some research and found that it was set up this way on purpose. The factory set the fuel pick up for the pump higher than the one for the generator inside the tank. That way you could never pump your tank dry by accident and then have nothing left for the generator. Kind of like a reserve.
