Gap under door from garage to bathroom in 27hfs
Any creative ideas to close up the gap under the door that leads from the garage to the bathroom on our XLR 27HFS. Aside from shoving a rolled up towel under it. Any ideas as to why this gap is so big (3-4 inches)?

Are you worried about garage smells getting into the bathroom or bathroom smells getting into the garage?
I believe that the gap under the door is intentional to allow air into the bathroom when the overhead fan is exhausting. The fan has to pull air from somewhere.

A little of both!! We have the screen for the door in the garage but we dont always use it ( or should I say "he" does not always use it ) so there is a problem with bugs getting in that opening.

you might find a type of door extension
at home depot
for our standard type door at home
I bought and added an extension
it added a couple of inches to lenth
screwed into bottom of door
anyone good with wood
can cut, stain, screw and glue
a nice piece of wood there also
the space is to let air pass freely
would not do away with all

I will get my hubby to check on that for sure. I like to keep the bugs outside where they belong.
thanks

I use a piece of foam from a cushion. Cut a channel in it and slide it onto the bottom of the door. I can send a pick when I have a chance. When I don't have the rear door down, I remove it. Keeps the A/c from escaping and bugs from coming into the bathroom when the door is down.

Put a weighted pc of screen wire on the bottom of the door that closes the opening to stop the flying invaders but still allows ventilation. A pc of steel strap wrapped in screen wire would do the trick.

The foam is actually a great idea. I have been searching the internet for the draft stoppers and door sweeps but none of them seem to be big enough for the opening. It is almost 3 inches tall. And the door is only about 24" wide. If you get a chance to post a pic of the foam, I would love to see it. I am not very crafty but sounds simple enough. I still just don't really understand why it would be such a large opening. The garage has vents so I don't think it would be for a/c and heat to get in.

If your gap is 3 inches tall, you might have to make something yourself. I'd bet some foam from an arts and crafts store or a pool noodle? Maybe an old pillowcase to hold the foam? You might have to do a little sewing to take in the pillowcase a bit?

Take a pc of carpet and form it into a U shape long enough to have about 1-1-1/2" on the door and reaches the floor and up the 1-1-1/2" on the other side of the door. Cover the ends of carpet on the door with alum threshold moulding.

I had the cushion, it cost me nothing. Not fancy, just functional. I don't use it very often, store it in the shower or garage. Just many of the "little things" to make the ToyH a little better. I cannot leave things alone. Mods are something I enjoy doing. My wife just puts up with me. I made three mods this weekend. Nothing is offlimits. The F150, house, and portable fuel tank were modified. F150-phone charger and toyhauler rear camera power were rewired so no cig plugs are showing.
Wired the house for EU2000 gennies. Changed the fuel hose on my 14 gallon tank, the one that came with it had a weak hose (kinked all the time) and flimsy fuel handle. Used a ball valve and much stronger hose. I have two more mods scheduled. Convert tube rims on motorcycle to tubeless, wire Toy hauler for addition shore power hookup.

other mods.
fresh water drain, too long, added 90 degree fitting and shutoff valve.
Tv wall mount, I have 4. one in the front bed, kitchen, garage and one outside.
down spout, a/c roof runoff, was making a mess.
LED lights.
Better fan with remote control.

Under the door cushion, definitely what I am looking for. I think I can handle making that. Thanks for the tip.

I don't have them on my garage door at home. Dont need them.
Dont need or want them on the XLR bathroom door. I wanted something to slip under the door temporarily and is removable. When the rear door is up, blocking air flow under the door is not desirable on any level. Even these brushes will impede too much air flow. The heat and air was designed with the large under door gap for a very good reason.

The OP stated that she was worried about bugs. If you temp block the open area under the door for bugs, then take it away after the rear door is closed. Hate to tell you the bugs are still in the cargo area, and will find their way under the door sooner or later. As for the AC and Heat if you close the vent located on the AC unit it will use the duct work supplying ac to the cargo area. As for the Heat it has a vent in the cargo area automatically. if your concern is the exhaust fan in the bathroom you still have the opening under the door to the living room/kitchen.

Kind of a thread revival, but is the exhaust fan really needing that big of a gap? Many homes have small, enclosed toilet rooms in the master bath with a ceiling vent fan, and none have a 2-3 inch gap as is common at both the top and bottom of many TT bathroom doors. I would think 1/4 to 1/2 inch on either the top or bottom would be sufficient.
As for decreasing a gap (for garage odors or just plain old privacy), I'm thinking about just making a custom door. Lowes and Home Depot sell hollow core internal doors that could be cut and modified with a small amount of time & skill. I'd have to move a light for the top gap, but that looks pretty easy.
