Generator Question 2017 HFS
I need some advice. I am in the market for a generator. I have narrowed it down to (2) of the Honda 2000 generators to run parallel, or the 1 Honda 3000.
Save me the lecture on overpaying for Honda, I am impressed with them. Here is my dilemma, Will the 3K be enough for the 13,500 ac, fridge and lighting, etc or would it be better to run 2 parallel? Pricing is about the same, but I like only having to haul 1 generator rather then wire up the 2. I don't mind turning ac off to take a shower or the like....
Thoughts?
Thanks!!!!

the 2-2000 are really not much more then the one 3000 . figure the 2000 you'll get about 1500w usable the 3000 about 2700 usable

3000 will run the ac, fridge, lighting. Have to cut off the AC to run the microwave.
Will have to take fuel and an extra side tank with either. The 3000 will last just over night with a full tank. The 3000 is much heaver, will take 2 people to load. Most just leave it in the bed of the truck. The 2000's are much lighter and very manageable with one person. Will use a little less fuel. Anytime you are not needing the ac you could only run one. Add a chain and a good lock or they will grow feet and walk off.

I have the 3000 and if we're to do it again, I would go with 2-2000. There are times all I need is a single 2000. Plus the 3000 just barely fits on the 29hfs tongue.
Just my 2 cents...

Overpriced, but reliable.

Pros of two
1. If AC not required you only need to take 1 smaller generator
2. Easier to move around the 3000 is heavy
3. If one fails at least you have basic power
Cons of two
1. You have to take two which take up a little more space.
2. need parallel kit, but that us just a small cable set.
Really depends on where you camp and what you want to operate.

2 Honda 2000 gens
I just purchased a 2017 360PDEK and have bought two Honda 2000's...because they are lighter and easier to handle...plus, I researched and bought the $185 propane converter kits...I was advised that pouring gasoline in the middle of the night into a hot generator that ran out of gas is not fun. The propane will burn cleaner, better for the gen and longer...I bought two boots for two 20lb propane tanks to sit in the truck bed..(all are chained)...

I should add, I already have a smaller Ryobi 2200 but I refuse to buy another and parallel it.
I was thinking of keeping that for a "spare". 98% of the time I will have power, but I make a 3yr trip that is five days long (yes I said that right LOL) with no water or power. I would typically just keep a 3K in the back of truck. so weight isn't an issue, I just don't want be to strapped for power.

I have a Honda 2000 and it runs everything but the AC, I have 2 friends with 2000's I can borrow for trips I need the AC. My 29HFS has the upgrade 15k AC and 2 2000's run it and the microwave just fine.

Remember generators are rated for 80 percent .8 of the nameplate rating for continuous loads. .8 x 3000 is 2400 continuous load.

How often will you be running the AC? If the answer is most of the time then get the bigger unit. If the answer is maybe once every 5 trips, or less, then get the 2 2000's.
I have a different brand but hooking up the 2 2000's takes time, one more thing to setup and take down every trip, and I dont need AC that often.
That being said, I bought a 3100 watt unit with remote start and love it! I was worried about the gas usage but not that big a deal. And you can run it on econ when you are not needing the AC. I also trip the 120v breaker for the fridge so it just stays on Propane.

I currently have 2-2000's and they work fine for the 13.5K AC and the micro at the same time. I also have the extended Berg tank. I believe that Berg tank is 5gal. I bought these because I can move them around easier that lifting the larger units. I did borrow a Yamaha 3000 to test and it was really quiet and smooth. It was just too heavy to lift for us.

I am in same boat. 2 Honda 2000 vs Yamaha 30iseb. Haven't made up my mind yet for my 29hfs.

We bought 2 eu2000i almost 10 years ago. Never have a lack of power for whatever we need. We also utilize a 6 gallon auxillary feeder tank so you never have to worry about adding fuel to a hot generator.
The 3000 won't be able to run as much simultaneously but does have the advantage of remote start/stop if you buy the model with that option.
We would buy the 2 2000s again in a heart beat.

3000 will run AC and lights, etc. Heavier to load in TV alone than 2 2000s. In winter, cooler weather, one 2000 will probably be all you need. Fuel consumption in two 2000s versus one 3000 and noise level is something to consider. Either way you've picked a great brand of gen.
