What all are you wanting to run?
Most folks size their generators to the amount of things they plan to operate.

A Honda 2000 will run everything but not AC and microwave together and you will need a capacitor kit or booster kit for AC for start up - I don't recommend if your planning on heavy AC use but occasionally not a problem - I ran my AC for many years on a Honda 2000 no issues -

Our Yamaha 3000is will run the air conditioner, but will not run anything else when the AC is on. Our AC will start the fan then the compressor in separate sequences. That eases start loads. We did not encounter any problems running hair dryer, 1500 watt heater, or microwave. You do have to realize what the capacity of your generator is and use the appliances within the load range of the generator.
