getting moreflow from fuel pump

So whats the deal with the fuel pump ? can only get about a gallon per 2.5 mins . checked for kinks but found none , pressurizes up good but then just pumps real slow . is there a flow control on the pump or other trick to getting fuel out . maybe a clogged screen if there is one

There could be some garbage in the tank that is blocking the fuel flow !
Is there a petcock or on - off manual valve on the tank ? It can be blocked .
Could be a hiden filter ?

"They" used generically.
Refers to pumps used in general in TH's that have a fuel station option.

Well i guess you can remove the fuel pump and get the make and part # off of it. Google your find and get the specs. If it says it is a 1.5 gal per minute get a bigger one. If it says it is a 4/5/6 gpm it's no good.
Happy motoring.

The pump is a 12 volt pump so you could have low voltage issue to pump. That would cause the low pump rate. Mine pumps about 10 gallons in 5 minutes. I thought mine was a little slow but yours is really slow. Also my pump is external mounted.check your battery voltage and make sure you battery is charged up good. My bed in the garage wouldn't go up with 12.4 volts so I fired up the generator and up it went.LOL

toy hauler comes with a fuel station carries 30 gallons . could only get 20 in . fuel pump is external and is only pumping about 1 gallon per 2 mins . my guess is a kinked hose in the tank to the pump or a clogged screen or some other stupid thing caused by people who put these units together and don't give a crap . I get good pressure but as soon as you hit the handle the pressure bleeds off and it the gas just trickles out

not the battery or voltage . the unit pressurizes up and get good pressure but as soon as you hit the handle to put fuel in whatever the pressure bleeds off and i just get a trickle . guessing a kinked hose in the tank or clogged screen if there is one . if i got 2.5 gpm I'd be happy.I'm sure it's just more poor workmanship . now i can spend an evening after work to fix what shouldn't be broke

Guess it's not the pump but the typical FR poor workmanship . it's a fuel pump not a water pump . can't find one for this type of use that's only 1.5 gpm . besides it's all under warranty if it's not a simple fix then FR can fix it

Fuel pumps on toy haulers are notoriously bad. When mine acted like yours it was usually the vanes swelling. You can open it up and trim them back. A mechanic told me they make them for diesel and when used in gasoline the plastic vanes have problems.

I'll have the chance to get into in the next couple days . if it ever stops raining . not going to modify anything just make sure nothing is kinked or clogged . if all is good then i'll go the warranty route and get a new pump. I'll post what i find

Is there an inline filter? A partial clogged filter can allow pressure to build but lose flow.

then you also have issues with your pump. I've operated many a fuel pump and they should not be as slow as I'm experiencing. still have not had a chance to get into it yet . been raining everyday here in west yellowstone

have not had a chance to look into it yet . but yes a clogged screen , filter , kinked hose etc . since the pressure builds my guess in one of those is the issue . I'm leaning toward a kinked hose . maybe tomorrow eve i'll have a chance to give it a once over .I'll report my findings for others
